A Perfect Getaway at Kwalucia Safari Retreat

Our stay at Kwalucia Safari Retreat in Saint Lucia, South Africa, was absolutely wonderful. Set in a beautiful tropical environment, the retreat offers an idyllic escape with its spacious rooms, tastefully decorated in an authentic African style, and equipped with all the comforts one could need.

The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready with tips about the local area, yet never intrusive. They perfectly organized our fat bike fishing excursion on the beach, complete with a delightful picnic package. It was an unforgettable experience.

In the evenings, we were treated to the unique sight of hippos grazing in the park right outside the retreat, adding to the charm of our stay. The breakfast each morning was lovingly prepared, with most items being homemade, providing a delicious start to our day.

Stayed two nights in September of '22.... Bit late for a review, but better late than never! Not exaggerating; I think the breakfasts there were the best I have had in all my travels or that I have made myself! The breakfast was truly "homemade" and could not be reproduced in a restaurant. Simply every part was a labor of love. So... if ya want the best breakfast ever; go there! For real! Quiet location across the street from a quiet park and very close to "downtown" which offers some pretty good sushi too. The rooms are spacious and actually from my point of view they are stand alone small bungalows in African decor. For some folks the rooms might not be perfect, but overall a pleasant place that maybe jet lagged folks might find a bit confusing. The husband wife team are very helpful and can give you good advice. We may well go there again just for the breakfast! And maybe, just maybe I could convince them to add dinner for a price! I haven’t written a review for a long time but this establisment absolutely deserves one!

Adrian and Marie are amazing. They make you feel like they have time for you, and not like you are guest 1000.

The breakfast: wow. The bread - baked by Marie. She also made some or other jam. The honey: fresh from the hive, still on the cake. The yogurt: Marie doesn’t like that other pre-flavoured sweetened yoghurt - no - here is a special strawberry jam you can mix into the yoghurt if you like.

Dinner time: hey, here is a fish we caught just the other day, why don’t we arrange for a restaurant to grill it for you? Me: sure sounds great! By the time I walk into the restaurant that evening, the manager knows about me and is awaiting me.

Me: don’t do breakfast for me tomorrow, I am leaving at 5:30 am. Marie : no we insist! We will see you in the morning and have a breakfast takeaway box ready for you.
