Blackrock Hotel — Hotel in Newcastle Local Municipality

The hotel is situated so conviently in the city and is easy to locate. The rooms are averagely sized for a 3 or 4 star hotel with all the basic facilities. The gym is a bit smaller than anticipated and they have a sauna room. The wifi conviently doesnt require a password, which helps. Meals are a buffet and the serving staff is sooo wonderful and the food is soo delicious. Breakfast staff is also great, except for one fair lady that was dishing out who seemed ready for a fight and as a result cannot hear instructions when you ask her to dish specif things. While everyone else is soooo wonderful. Special mention of the night start while i was there and Lulama who was at reception... they were so magnificent. While they were fully booked, my sister was able to change rooms swiftly. In contrast to the day shift staff... especially their manager who was incredibly devastating and does not give the impression that she wants to help resolve your issues. I had a voucher for meals and extras, yet the manager was insisting that meals and extras does not include a lunch bag and so she will have to follow up with the travel agent that i booked with... all of which could have been done before i checked but i had to fight for it. Which has left a bitter taste to this place. Additionally they have metal pool chairs but do not offer couches because they say they are hard to clean. The experience here is a mixed bag, while the night shift staff is amazing... the day shift staff is terrible, and leaves you conflicted when rating this place. From the moment we arrived at the Black Rock Hotel, we were welcomed with the kindest smiles and the warmest hospitality. We booked 4 rooms for our group, and every single detail from check-in to check-out was handled with absolute professionalism and genuine care.

The reception team was incredibly efficient, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure our stay was seamless. Their communication was clear and consistent, and every request we had was met with enthusiasm and grace. We were blown away by how accommodating everyone was to our individual needs nothing ever felt like too much to ask.

A special mention must be made for the cleaning staff, who kept all our rooms spotless and refreshed with the highest standard of hygiene and attention to detail. You could tell they truly took pride in their work, and it showed in every corner of the room.

And then there was breakfast what an absolute delight! The waiters and breakfast staff were an absolute dream to interact with each morning. They were always cheerful, attentive, and made sure every table was perfectly set and every guest felt at home. The food was fresh although they could have included condiments for the pancakes .

Every member of the Black Rock Hotel team made our stay unforgettable. From the warmth of their service to the efficiency of their work, it’s clear that this hotel not only upholds high standards, but also values people and relationships above all else I have stayed here a few years back and the experience was the same .

Short version: The hotels management ignores theft of its guests belongings by hotel employees or is complicit in the act themselves. Save yourself the trouble and money and go elsewhere. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! ||||Long version: The hotel itself is average and the service follows suite. Onsite restaurant leaves a lot to be desired, leaving the sub par casino being the only real draw here.||||The theft in question occurred during checkout, when we forgot our valuable in the room safe which we had left unlocked while packing. We realized what we forgot 45 minutes after we departed and when we returned to check the room the item was gone. Hotel security footage confirmed that no one but my wife and I entered our room during our entire stay except for when we checked out. Two hotel employees can be seen entering the room and exiting shortly after, leaving very little room for speculation as to what took place. ||||Hotel management performed a very curt investigation and sent us on our way after forwarding our information to their claims department. One month of being bounced around, no response, no findings or apology was every given and our valuables were never recovered. ||||Hotel management handled the situation terribly which strongly leads one to believe that this happens often enough for them to dismiss their guests and allow a culture of theft to permeate through their establishment....
