There should be a penalty against places that are run like this one. Just to mention a few of our very disappointing stay,

  1. We booked and paid for the whole resort, being told it was a 8 bedroom lodge, but were only given 7 bedrooms, as we were told by the manager that we were only 14 people, so she decided to rent out the 1 room to other people. This ended up with 1 of our party having to sleep on the couch, and no, we were not refunded.
  2. Some lights worked, some aircons worked, some fans worked and one TV worked, but had absolutely no DSTV channels.
  3. The furnisher was the cheapest you could buy, to the extent that the bedside carpets were literally made out of wrapped reused plastic bags and silver foil in between the plastic. There were no effort nor expenses given to any of the decorations or decor in the lodge. The outside was pleasant, but it is obvious that it also needs a lot of TLC and maintenance.
  4. The toilet paper was like sand paper, even came without the corrugations to tear it. All the toilets ran out on the first day and only the 1 room had an extra roll in it.
  5. The lodge is not serviced and when we asked the manager, she said she could arrange a maid to wash the dishes at R200 on the Saturday.
  6. We booked out on the Sunday, and while we were busy with breakfast, we were interrupted by the manager, saying that the maid wanted the dishes to wash. We asked nicely if we could just finish our breakfast first and finish our packing, before she started cleaning, as we only needed to be out there at 10am and this was at 8am. She said we owed the maid a further R200 to wash the dishes on Sunday. I have never heard that you need to pay for the place to be serviced, after you leave. Unfortunately, our group paid it. There are so many places trying to make a living out of their accommodation in Marloth Park, that actually try make your stay pleasant and enjoyable and put a lot of effort into it, so honestly, don't waste your money or time with this place, rather find somewhere else. Sadly, they display a certificate of an award they received in 2018 for the best value accommodation. How things have changed. Will not be...

Visited the lodge for a weekend with a large group.|No televisions working.|Bathrooms without mats or extra toilet paper, as well as broken shower doors.|Towels not available in all rooms.|Due to the rain, it was understandable that some areas flooded a bit. But, the owner knew of the one room’s bathroom that was completely covered in water, before we arrived and did not say anything.|Various areas in the structure experienced leaking.||Was told beforehand to pay R750 for a cleaner. The cleaner only washed dishes. We were charged extra when asked to wash dishes twice on the Saturday, as well as to clean the one room which had some water leaks.|NO cleaning of rooms. NO cleaning of bathrooms. There is a sign in the bathroom that says you can receive new towels, you should just leave your towel in the shower. But they never went in any other area than the kitchen, so we are unsure of how we would’ve gotten new towels.|Soaked towels and linen used to soak up the water in the house was just left there to start rotting and smelling.|Absolutely no hospitality or feeling welcome.|I would not recommend this accommodation to any one.|Maybe if you can stay there for free, it would...

If you like privacy on a vacation DO NOT STAY AT IVORY SANDS!!! ||The lady of the house is very rude and lives right next to the house!! She does not abide to the POPI act at all as there are cameras in and around the house watching your every move without you even giving consent to this nonsens, no form of warning about the cameras were given before hand and nowhere are notice boards!! ||Above all when we leave to enjoy our day out the lady goes into the house and checks if we haven’t taken anything!! This is not even the worst part, one evening she scolded and swore at us for using candles while load shedding is happening, not a friendly gesture nothing, she did not even tell us before hand that she does not want candles in the house her exact words were as follows; “you blow out the candles or give me 5.5 million rand” then she started swearing and so on,,, ||She watches you like a hawk and was drunk most of the time!!!! Our stay was...

Beautiful location with lots of wildlife. The lodge is outdated and you can see it's just for the income and not for client satisfaction. Really not value for money. The Lodge caretaker is very dodgy and keeps on complaining about bouble bookings etc. Will never promote this venue to anyone. There are much better places available with more reasonable prices.

Amazing! Did not really know what to expect, but wow, beyond my expectations. Susan is an amazing host and we had a wonderful stay with lots of close up animal viewing. We certainly will be back and recommend this tranquil beautiful place to others.
