I don't even know how to put my experience into words because words just don't do it justice, but I shall do my best. My wife and I just spent the last 5 days and nights with Alison and Cor and they were absolutely amazing! They are extremely warm and welcoming and they go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable. The accommodations are suitable and the proximity to Kruger is fantastic.
Initially, we were only going go into the park with Cor for our first day to get our bearings and then we intended on driving through on our own for subsequent visits. After a day filled with amazing animal sightings, detailed knowledge of the animals and park, along with great company, we decided to do 2 more days with Cor in the park. We weren't disappointed. Not only did we get to see such beautiful animals but we also learned so many interesting facts about them.
We were very lucky to see lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, rhino, and hippopotamus just to name a few. Unfortunately we weren't able to see the elusive leopard but I guess that means we will have to come back! And we will definitely be staying here.
We made two fantastic new, genuine friends in Alison and Cor and we can't wait to return to see them and all of the animals again! Thanks for the...
Read moreQuite a good idea they've had, going down the cheap and cheerful route instead of becoming the millionth "pinnacle of luxury" lodge. Make no mistake, though, there's everything one would expect from a quality hostel here; clean beds, a fully equipped kitchen, two garden terraces, artwork everywhere and easy access to Kruger from here. Booking a next-day safari was never a problem, there are supermarkets nearby and there's a shuttle service that takes you right to their front door. Owner is a very passionate person who shared some inspired views about South Africa over coffee, leaving me with hope for the country - something that never happens in the media! Wildlife passes through the yard all the time, and I was lucky enough to watch the lunar eclipse on the roof with everyone!||||There was one couple whose room was double booked, through some errors, and the owner jumped straight into action getting them a new room for the night - I mention this since I'm not sure if they're on their way to Tripadvisor...||||Only complaint is that they're in the far south of the park, and I intend to explore the north next time - really want to come back here, but it will take a lot more driving so I'm in a bit of a...
Read moreCan't speak highly enough of this hostel. ||||As well as being cheaper than many of the campsites inside the park, it is clean, comfortable, fully equipped and you still get the full experience of what it's like to stay inside the park.||||The owners are very helpful, friendly and, as safari veterans, extremely knowledgable on the local wildlife and where to find it.||||From the hostel it takes around 15 minutes to get to the nearest Kruger gate (crocodile bridge) and immediately you are in the best area of the reserve to see wildlife.||||Alternatively you can stay within the Marloth park and have a walk round the edge, looking into Kruger and still have a good chance of spotting the big 5 as well as having some great close up interactions with the grazers found in Marloth. ||||We had a super cheap and luxorious stay at Kruger Inn and saw a lot more wild life this time round than when we splashed out on staying inside the reserve last year.||||If you're going to...
