This is actually a review of both Leolapa and its sister property next door, Buffalo Brooke. We had the privilege in the past year of staying at both properties on two separate trips, and both times we felt more spoiled and blessed than on any other holiday or trip we have ever been on. Both of these wonderful mansions are situated in the beautiful Mjejane reserve - the southernmost reserve adjoining the Kruger Park. Both properties overlook a huge stretch of the Crocodile River, and from the sprawling entertainment areas - or from the infinity pools - you can watch game come down to drink, day and night. This includes the Big 5, of course, but it also includes a host of antelope and buck, not to mention a wonderful array of birdlife. And if you still need to tick off one or two sightings on your list, you can always schedule a private game drive with the knowledgable (and funny!) game driver, Muntu. There is a fully equipped bar and kitchen in both houses, fabulously luxurious bedroom (including much-needed aircon!) and a lounge area that is built for comfort and relaxation. As you the reader can tell by now, I can't recommend either of these two wonderful lodges...
Read moreA large group of us spent a post wedding get away with the bride and groom at the beautiful LeoLapa. It would be without a doubt be one of the premier game lodges in the Southern Hemisphere, let along South Africa. We loved the beautifully appointed open plan living area that flowed out to the balancony from where we fired up the braii, swam in the pool and viewed game. We counted no less than 56 bird species from the house, and saw hippos and elephants from the balcony that looks out over a wild river into the bushvelt. Being from Australia and knowing bush, it was a real treat to see such an incredible tract of bush with an abundance of game and wildlife from the comfort of the house, just stunning. We saw the big 5 on the first morning whilst chewing on fresh biltong and stokkies that Gaz had made, beautiful! Byer Lekker as they say down there! It’s a must stay lodge, can’t wait to take the kids...
Read moreAs a family we saw in 2022 at Leolapa in Mjejane private game reserve. To say we had a great time would be a massive understatement. I have travelled to many self catering places throughout the Kruger and South Africa and have never stayed at such a well appointed or located unit. Spacious, Luxurious, private it ticks all the boxes. Inspite of inclement weather we saw phenomenal game during our stay and was serenaded one two nights by lions calling not far from the unit. I would highly recomend a stay at Leolapa for anyone needed to unplug and...
