Kennedys Beach Villa — Hotel in Overstrand Local Municipality

We stayed at the beach suite for our anniversary.

The room's got everything you need, spotless, comfortable bed, electric blanket, coffee and tea station with rusks, sherry, water and a small treat on arrival. The bathroom is also spotless.

The view to the sea and fynbos was the highlight of our stay.

There is also security beams outside the room, which made us feel very safe.

The host James is very hospitable and quick to react.

We went out for dinner and when we came back they cleaned our room and place a light on the table  (electricity was off), which was a welcoming suprise.

It unfortunately rained and the wind was very strong during our stay so we weren't able to experience the jacuzzi or braai since the jacuzzi and braai area are on a deck in the wind with no cover. There is a balcony on the second floor of the house that looks over the jacuzzi and braai area, which makes the jacuzzi and braai area not very private. Perhaps the owners can place a divider of some sorts at the jacuzzi and a build in braai area closer to the room.

The anniversary package is not a special package or promotion since you need to pay, in addition to your normal accommodation rate, a fee for the couples massage, cheese platter, roses, lindt chocolates and champagne. You are better of buying it yourself.

I think if its not raining or if its not windy you definitely get what you pay for. Otherwise, you will pay for facilities that you will not be able to use.

The owner did indeed offer for us to book out later on the Sunday to experience the jacuzzi, which was a testament to their great hosting. However, by that time we unfortunately already had...

We absolutely loved our stay at Kennedy's Beach Villa and would 100% recommend it to anyone visiting Hermanus.

Location-wise, it's just a short drive into the centre of Hermanus, so really convenient. The villa overlooks a beautiful, quiet beach that's only a few minutes' walk away — much less crowded than the main beaches in town. There’s also a lovely restaurant nearby for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, as well as some scenic cliff walks close by.

The accommodation itself is charming. The room is spacious, the bathroom is excellent, and the hot tub on the balcony is a perfect touch — especially at sunset.

The service was truly outstanding. James is genuinely one of the kindest, most welcoming people we've ever met. You can really feel how much he cares about making each guest’s stay special. His brother Bennett is just as lovely — he not only drove us all the way to Wilderness (nearly a five-hour trip!) for the next leg of our journey, but also dropped us off at the new harbour at 6:30am for our whale watching tour after our Uber fell through, all with very little notice.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend Kennedy’s to anyone looking for a memorable stay...

Our stay at Kennedy Villa was nothing short of magical. The photos simply don’t do justice to the beauty and tranquility of this property. Nestled in a lush forest, the villa offers complete privacy, with breathtaking views of the sea from the outdoor bath and jacuzzi – a truly unique experience.

One of the highlights was the private jetty, which gave us easy access to kayaking and swimming in the serene lagoon that leads out to the sea. The villa itself is spacious, self-catering, and thoughtfully designed, with an incredible outdoor braai setup that’s perfect for relaxing evenings.

James was an outstanding host, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Mrs. Kennedy was equally kind and welcoming, adding a personal touch to our stay that we’ll never forget.
