Klein-Hangklip / Eco Mountain Cabin — Hotel in Overstrand Local Municipality

We went to klein hangklip for our honeymoon. It is an absolutely beautiful place and the agent was very friendly. We where told that there are baboons and we should not be afraid they not aggressive.

We had an absolute horrible experience with the baboons, 3 of them came into the house as we were offloading and stole food. We then had a second incident where we left the one door open and they came in. Luckily we got them out fast.

We could not open any of the doors, which makes it really a waste to go to this expensive place and you afraid to go outside.

We then left to get food in the town, 5 minutes away. We locked all the doors (after having 2 bad experiences) and the bathroom window that was open on a baboon latch (as the agent put it for us) whereopen. The baboons then came through that window (which we where told was safe to leave open the way it was) and trashed the house. The bigger baboons broke the front glass door.

It was really a horrible experience for us, we feel that yes we understand that baboons are an issue at this place, but this was much more than an issue. We followed the instructions and we could not go outside much (there where so many of them), we wanted to leave and asked for a refund, because we locked every single door and left nothing open. The agents just turned us down and said that we were warned.

Klein Hangklip Eco Mountain Cabin has to be seen and experienced to be believed. Even though it is described as a 'cabin' it has only the best quality amenities and furnishings and we stayed in the lap of luxury. The cabin is situated in the Kogelberg Biosphere with its unique and diverse fauna and flora and we experienced the best that nature has to offer. The views are simply indescribable and introduces an everchanging experience of feeling like you are above the clouds one moment, and with unhindered views across False Bay the next moment. The cabin has everything you need (and then some), including a Kolkol hot tub on the deck. The tub works with firewood and adds to the otherworldly experience. There is also a lot to do nearby in terms of eateries and entertainment, but once you arrive you will have to force yourself to go on any excursions. We had such a wonderful and relaxing time at Klein Hangklip Eco Cabin. The most amazing views, freshly brewed coffee in bed with the ocean stretched out in front of us. A place to properly relax and reload in nature, surrounded by lush fynbos and beautiful proteas. The cabin is kitted out with everything you need from hot water bottles to board games, super cosy bed linen and blankets to take afternoon naps on the couch.

Also a special shout out to Karin, the hostess, who made everything from check-in to check-out seamlessly easy and smooth. Dreaming about being back...
