Drummond Arms Restaurant & Pub. — Restaurant in Overstrand Local Municipality

We frequented here, on the 30th December as an unscheduled stop as we were heading for Kleinmond's harbour area, a very popular venue for Motorcyclists.

Drummond Arms is on the bend in Rooiels en route to Hangklip, Betty's Bay and Kleinmond, on the Gordons Bay Mountain Road, which by the way is one of the most scenic rides in this part of the Cape which can be done by Car, Motorcycle and Bicycle, you have to turn right on the last bend in Rooiels.

This little area has a quaint Seaside Village atmosphere, and is popular as a holiday home destination.

At Drummond Arms we were seated and ordered drinks with a friendly fellow who proceeded to fill our drinks order.

The restaurant itself is as most eateries, basic picnic style tables with benches outside, a bar area and tables and chair seating inside.

We ordered their standard breakfast, 2 eggs, bacon, sausage and toast, which was presented a little while later, as they were not too busy when we arrived. As breakfasts go it was not exceptional but did the job of satisfying our appetites.

Upon using their on site restrooms I came across a very unique and interesting contraption, it seems like a home made barbeque, check the pic and decide for yourself.

We did not linger as we had some kms. to cover, exiting we came across this awesome classic, see pics a Royal Enfield. The Drummond Arms is a nice stop on this route and can accommodate larger riding groups, well...

Arrived at 13.50. It was very busy, but we found a table by ourselves inside. We were ignored by all staff, as they were running to serve large tables outside. Point is, no one attempted to even offer us a menu, let alone a drink. I am happy for the local eating places to make a bag full of money from holiday makers, but remember, it is the locals keeping your businesses afloat the rest of the year. Common courtesy, like” good afternoon. Table for 2?” “We are very busy but can we offer you a drink in the meantime?” Would have gone a long way to prevent me from posting this negative comment. Needless to say, we left 15 minutes after seating ourselves, still not being attended to. Will obviously think twice before...

Th restaurant was set-up for our party of 8 for a birthday celebration and the waiter catered to everybody's whims specifically. Excellent food, great prices and even better service! We were truly wowed by Drummond Arms' staff, the ambiance, everything was just great! Thanks once again for making my husband's birthday extra special - we really did enjoy the afternoon at your establishment and we will spread to word to visit your restaurant. I will always recommend you guys to other friends and family, colleagues from work etc. to be sure they visit Drummond Arms...
