Not quite sure how to explain this…
A real medieval castle, complete with Knight’s armour, swords and crests… meticulously designed with era correct decor.
They have a menu fit for a king or queen, with a dining experience in a lushes garden or dining hall.
The menu is really affordably priced with cuisine found at any popular family restaurant. They serve without a doubt the BEST PIZZA IN RUSTENBURG.
It is really worthwhile to drive out on the R24 for a midweek family dinner experience. Their coffee and hot chocolate isn’t what you would expect and I can really recommend to you, to treat yourself with a delicious warm cuppa after your meal!
FYI… their ice cream isn’t the generic watery sorbet stuff that you get from chain restaurants, go ahead spoil the kids. On the topic of kids, now that I have mention it, there is a kid’s play area in the castle’s garden that will keep those little ones entertained for literally the whole time while you dine.
Before I get to my reasons for why I handed 5 stars… this is a perfect place for teambuilding, weddings and romantic getaways.
The stars are awarded for. Superior decor experience. Friendly staff and reception. Delightful meals and drinks. Safety for kids and family. Clean and relaxing environment (dust free). Meticulous organisation of restaurant seating and layout. Safe parking. Delicious food that is well prepared. Memorable outdoor dining.
Stunningly done, Excalibur...

Read moreForeigners beware! This should have been a 5* all around..the setting is peaceful and lovely, the waitrons were wonderful. The attention to detail all around this venue is something to behold even down to the cherub shower taps. It was meant to be a fantastic weekend away, which by all accounts it was - until 1:30 on the Sunday morning.
A local mining company held a private function which by 1:30 had become a party like never heard before - our room was closest to that venue and the volume was just ridiculous, but that was not the reason we received our refund and drove out by 2:30.. the abuse received was beyond anything I have encountered. Being English speaking I was assumed foreign and picked up even more abuse from the drunken revelers. To add insult to injury the on-duty person, Jackson, was ignored by them - with further threats to me. Another "management ' person arrived who proceeded to try and placate the drunken party by saying that '"unfortunately there are people like me!'. That was enough! Thank you Karien (owner?) for arriving when you did...
This was a most conflicting weekend event... Stunning venue, great service but went south with an unmanaged private function ...
I won't be back and encourage foreigners...
