I had an experience tonight that I never want again. We ordered starters which were delicious and then the main course arrived. My chicken wings were deepfried to a point where the were rock hard and dry. I requested the waiter to return them. He came back to the table saying the manager asked if I wanted anything else. My response was that I would like them to replace my meal. After 40 minutes I requested the waiter to put the food in a take away as my spouce had finished her meal. I paid and and said to the manager/owner that the meal and service was disappointing. His response was" put it on facebook". On arrival at the car I opened the take away to find that the food I sent back was put into the container.I returned inside and questioned why the "old" food was placed in the container. The response was that this was the instruction of the manager's son. This person then apologised which I believe was far too late. I am the customer and he is the service provider. I was also informed by the father not to return as he does not need me.Well, Alex, If you do not need my contribution and the previous week's R14 000 I supported you with, you might find that your customers will go somewhere where they get service, friendliness and proffesional management when it comes to...
Read moreSecond time VERY unhappy, again. Sunday 8 October 2023. Ordered lamb shank - meat tasted very old, like it was on it’s way out! Then wouldn’t one expect at least 2 to 3 pieces for R250!! This is not the first time and we tried the Einstein AGAIN, because we wanted to give The Deck a another chance. We asked for no honey basting, too sweet. This time deep fried so hard we could hardly eat it. Then afterwards they suggested another basting. Not their fault, apparently. The food quantity was much less and the prices sky rocket. Some foods, tasteless. Owner seems to think everything is OK. Does not listen to his customers! Management not forgiving and had to pay for food that is not edible. Owner and clearly cook has checked out. At least the seafood platter was not too bad. We are locals who have been eating at the deck for many years, but we will NEVER eat there again. Lost business forever!!!...
Read moreOn Saturday 23/8/2025 we went to the Deck for a meal with our son and friend from New Zealand. What an utter disappointment to say the least!! Our waiter was coughing over us with NO attempt cover his mouth. He was sullen and did not seem at all interested in what he was doing, like he was doing his customers a favour by taking our drinks and meal order. On the first cough over our table I should have followed my gut instinct and left with our guests THEN the restaurant as well as the pud would have been totally deserted. We asked for side plates as well were sharing starters and the plates were brought being carried against his chest! My sashlika was cold and the veg just dumped onto the plate. Our guests did not complain about the food, but perhaps they were just being polite! The experience was really shocking and we will not be recommending or visiting...
