Hospitality: JD, his family and his helpful friend PJ were superb hosts. Check in was seamless despite our late arrival at 10pm. We also got a free bottle of wine per room, from the family vineyard. With the long Easter weekend in full swing, JD invited us to have some wine and chit chat at the restaurant patio, which we enjoyed immensely.
Rooms: Our rooms were spacious, with hot showers that had high pressure. The bed was firm yet comfortable, and there was a kettle, hairdryer, minifridge, clothes hangers etc for all our needs.
Breakfast: Delicious breakfast with pork and sausages from their farm, along with freshly baked bread with fig jam and rooibos tea/coffee. Great start to our days.
The property: Heins Manor is a true heritage property, centuries old and once belonging to the Dutch East India company. Its ceilings are truly as high as they come, and it is an understatement to say that the Manor is beautifully appointed.
JD took us on his bucky to check out the surrounding property, including the vineyard, pig farm, dam, smoking room and restaurant. We ended up buying some meats, jam and wine to take home with us!
