Nice Room, nice Owner. However, at checkin, or in the indoor entrance area, or at the parking Gate inside, there should be a warning: Stellenbosch City Center has very professionell trickster / con man. When we talked to Locals they were surprised that at checkin noone told us. Other Villages such as Frenchhoek are much more Safe. Maybe in the Future This warning can be placed visible inside / at the Exit. It is written in a Little booklet at the Room. But This is not sufficient. Travelling thought entire South Africa for more than 5 weeks, Stellenbosch After 5 pm in the afternoon is not safe. Everybody knows the rules and Situation. However locals told us, they First professionally approach you on the Street (few meters away from local Security in the City center) and the Day later they may also break into your car once the recognized you. It happens especially to tourists. That is why hotels and B&B in Town should make better aware. If you are familiar with the tricks and can handle those Situations - Stellenbosch is worth visiting.

Of course of your property is based in a Village where fraud happens, this should be communicated to guests. The reason that you are still negate this, is very sad. Just Communicate it better at Check in and at the Exit of your car parking, and all...

Read moreWe spent 4 nights at Penelope's and really enjoyed it. The house with its garden & pool is beautiful and very well kept. The rooms are nice too and well equipped (AC, coffee machine). It's basically a private home in a nice area, with the hosts living on the ground floor and the 4 rooms upstairs turned into guest-rooms. So the rooms are a bit on the smaller side and since it's an old house, you do hear the other guests. A shared kitchenette with a big fridge (between the 4 rooms in the hallway) offers space to store your goods and prepare some food, tea, etc. Location is great & safe - on the outskirts of Stellenbosch (8min...
