Featherhouse — Hotel in Umsobomvu Local Municipality

After driving for 9 hours on our way home from Cape Town we needed somewhere clean and comfortable to stay. This place had good reviews and was basic but cheap. ||When we got in the room however we saw the bed had big yellow crusty flaking stains on it. They looked like dried custard or bodily fluids. It clearly had not been washed or changed. The pillows had greasy stains on and the bed had short black curly hairs all over. ||We were tired and hungry and quickly needed to find somewhere else to stay. Luckily we were able to find somewhere else around the corner, but it was a major inconvenience to pay for another accommodation and move all our stuff again. ||The owner was completely unfazed by our complaint and sounded like he got it all the time. He refused to check the bed and told us it it couldn’t be true. Basically calling is liars! We did not stay there so we would not have benefited from lying! The worst customer service I have ever experienced and the most filthy bed I’ve ever seen. We did not even want to touch it. ||We have stayed in many hotels, hostels and bnbs and this was by far the worst experience. Don’t listen to the reviews this place is disgusting. No apology from the own no accountability...

I travel alone with my motorcycle and my cat. Which sometimes gives me very difficult conditions, even more so when it's cold. It is important for me to find understanding and humane people where I can be in good conditions. And well received I am very happy to have been able to stop here. I even extended for a few days because it was really comfortable, the owners were very kind and attentive to me. It's very clean. All rooms overlook the gardens with a terrace area for each room. The garden is maintained daily. Like the rooms, there is Netflix if you are in winter: there is everything to keep you warm and to cook on site.

What a gem hidden behind high walls. We had a family room with 2 single beds and a double bed. Beautiful vintage headboard, wooden ceiling and restored wooden door frames. The bathroom is beautiful with an extra-long bath and a big shower. 2 big mirrors in the bathroom with a handy multifunction wall plug at one mirror with usb ports.
