NEVER, Never again will I stay here or recommend anybody to do so. We checked in around 4.30pm paid cash and did not get a receipt, requested an Iron for a head start to the next day. This did not happen. Rooms smelt of urine only to discover that one of the Loungers cushion's was soiled. Reported this to reception, the lady causally and unapologetically removed it to the next room. Iron still had not arrived. To say the least we had to go thru all the linen before attempting to sleep. Reluctantly we pulled thru the night and called in at 6.30am for the Iron, only to be told that nobody had informed the next shift and they had no keys to the laundry. The lady was kind enough to get an iron (looked like she had purchased it as it still had the plastic stuck to the bottom) this after my husband thru a tantrum about being late to get to his appointment. After demanding an invoice which was only captured on the system that morning, we left around 8.15 to the appointment which we should have attended at 8:00. That afternoon(Friday 30/9/2016) on my way back to Durban my Husband called the inn to chat to the owner, we were given the run around and lied too and given a false numbers and names and had the phone put to one side whilst, the ladies continued with their conversation. Rude is an under statement for an establishment that works with the public. I then called another Establishment to try and get the owners details but was given the number for the Caltex Garage, I spoke to the so called Manager of the Resort who promised to get back to us but nothing happened. Read moreI stayed over at this establishment approx. 10 years ago and the experience was great. Obviously when I had to sleep over again my first choice was gables Inn only to be hugely disappointed. My wife and I together with our 11 month old baby arrived just before 20:00. We settled into a room where the blankets were so tatty and thin that they looked like they were salvaged from the spca waste. On wanting to take a shower I discovered that the hot water tap was broken. I then reported it lto the office and I was given a key to shower in another unit. I opened the shower and as I climbed in the water stopped running, this I reported to reception only to be told that there will be running water in the morning which there luckily was, this was however accompanied with the smell of sewage. In general, the linen is dated and worn, the curtains are poorly hung, the doors are weathered, the beds are slept through, the showers are dirty, the bathrooms smell of urine and there might as well not be a wall between the separate units as you can hear every single sound from next door. We made a booking through Booking.com in October. When we arrived yesterday, we were told there was no record of our booking and that no payment had been received. The receptionist was incredibly rude, screaming at us in front of other clients and accusing us of being "skelm" (dishonest).
She even took my phone to inspect my banking app. When she found the payment confirmation, she dismissed it, claiming it wasn’t valid proof. Eventually, she called the manager/owner, who refused to come over immediately. When he finally arrived, he acknowledged the payment had indeed been received back in October.
By then, we were completely fed up and requested a full refund. Initially, he only offered a 50% refund, but after we insisted, we got our full refund — still with no apology from the receptionist for the awful treatment.
We have never been treated so poorly and cannot recommend this...
