My son and his wife moved from Cape Town to Johannesburg in March 2021 and spend the night the night of 29 March 2021 at Figtree Guesthouse in Colesburg. Lizl Botha (my daughter) did confirm with the owner/manager that they will be traveling with a trailer and they assured them that the guesthouse was very secure as gates are locked during the night and there is also security cameras installed to prevent any crimes from happening. When they woke up the morning of 30 March, there has been some items stolen from their trailer during the night and the total cost of the damage was about R5500.00. After bringing it to the owner/manager’s attention, they assured them that they will deal with the situation via their insurance, but even if the insurance doesn’t cover this cost, they will deal with us directly to ensure that Marshand and Lizl don’t suffer any loss. Once they arrived at their new home, after unpacked they got a clear picture of what has been stolen during the previous night. A excel spreadsheet was drafted with some pictures similar to the stolen items with estimated values for replacing those items. This has now been almost a month and after many inquiries it has come to light that the premises where we stayed (Figtree Guesthouse) did in fact NOT have security cameras and that they submitted a claim as if the break-in happened at Mimosa Guesthouse. Also claims are now being made that their neighbor also viewed his security cameras and could not see the theft, suggesting that the theft didn't happen, although they were fully aware of what happened and did not dispute it at all when it was brought to their attention on the day that it happened. In my opinion this Guesthouse owners are not ethical in their dealings with their potential customers. Their security is sadly lacking and to try and submit a claim as if the damage happened at another guest house is highly unethical and illegal in my opinion. One of the latest “requirements” was that they are looking for pictures of the actual break-in, or pictures of the actual damage which they know we didn’t take, because they assured them that it will be handled in a professional manner. Lizl Botha have been in communication with Ronell Mitchley and she has now blocked her number for WhatsApp to avoid phone calls and messages. This is not how customers are suppose to be treated. I am sure the insurance claim will not be paid, because of their illegal actions when submitting the claim. I will highly recommend that nobody supports businesses which lack basic business ethics when engaging with customers and is trying to scam their insurance company also. Lizl has communicated with their insurance company also to inform them that they stayed at Figtree guesthouse and not in Mimosa as their claim suggested. It is important for me that everything be conducted in a professional manner including all the correct facts as it happened. The whole cost of the move was excessive and nobody can afford to replace the items that were stolen, especially if the assurance was given that their security is in place. No case were opened at the police station by Lisl/Marshand Botha, as the owner undertook to do that the day after the theft. I completely understand that many guesthouses suffered due to Covid but if they made it was made clear from the start that there is no security, alternative accommodation would have been arrangements. Their loss is a direct result of the lies told about security as well as the fact that they lied on their insurance claim. Lizl have tried to solve this issue amicable, but clearly Mrs Mitchley is not interested in addressing this issue, but think that by blocking Lizl's calls this issue will just disappear. I will make sure that any tour operator in South Africa removes them from their list as well as places like LekkerSlaap and Bookings.com. Please contact me to get this...

We booked at this established guesthouse when we drove to Limpopo and again on our way back to CT. Simply beautiful it is affordable for the time you spend there and what you receive for the price. I have very mixed feelings about this place.... |The beds are very comfortable, the bedding clean and the rooms well kept. The owners were very accommodating and assisted us with an electric point for our trailer to keep our freezer running during the night. They were even very accommodating with our after 8pm check in, as we were driving from the other side of Polokwane (1030 km).|The only down fall is that the owner is very afraid that people will pack up and leave during the night, as she kept asking if we want to swipe or pay cash, and when we told her that we would do an electronic payment as the previous time, she sent a What'sApp reminder 30 minutes after our arrival. Needless to say, we were still busy having dinner, and haven't even unpacked yet. |Check out time is strictly at 9 and she even ask you what time are you planning to leave the following day. There's only enough coffee, milk etc in the room for one cup each. The fridge wasn't switched on in advance, so we had to wait for it to get to temperature before we could pack our water etc for the following day. |The bath towels are paper thin and washed through. They can definitely upgrade on that. They advertise that they have wifi, but both times the wifi was not working. The curtains can definitely use a decent hang as they are all slip one knit one. The shower floor is extremely slippery as they used normal floor tiles, and I see that as a potential law suit. The shower curtain is held together with packaging tape. |I personally feel for a owner that's on site every day, she can definitely look after the rooms a bit more and take note of the small things and not blame the cleaning lady for it, as she told me the cleaning lady switch the fridges off when guests check out. But I feel it's her responsibility to ensure that everything is in order before your guests check in, especially when we have booked days in advance. |All and all we had a good rest before taking on the last 800km's home... Will we stay there for a third time.... I don't think so, unless there's a drastic...

We stayed at Figtree Guesthouse on 29 March 2021 en route from Cape Town to Jhb. We travelled with a fully loaded trailer as we were relocating. The owner, Desmond Mitchley assured me that the parking is safe and gate will be locked. That evening or early morning our trailer was broken into and items to the value of R5500 was stolen. They advised that there is camera footage which they will review and will submit a claim to their insurance. Desmond advised should the insurance not pay out they will personally reimburse us. Now 3 weeks later we are no further in solving the matter. I have since been blocked by them both on WhatsApp. I have also learned that Ronell Mitchley, the owner of Mimosa Guesthouse tried to claim this through her guesthouse for some reason, which means the camera footage at Figtree will be useless and the claim is in fact a dishonest claim.||||I would hate for anyone else to go through what we did with these people. To both Desmond and Ronell I would like to say this is unethical and we trusted that you were good people. I really hope nobody else has to ever...

Convenient, well-priced and clean. The mattress in our unit had a human-shaped divot on one side.
