Le Bay Lodge — Hotel in Western Cape

The guest house was nice and cosy. Very neat and the breakfast was good. The lady in the kitchen was friendly and helpful. However, there was an incident which I have to relate here to warn others: My wife and I visited the guest house for two nights the beginning of June 2018 since it was our anniversary. Prior to going there we popped in to view the place and it was then that we saw that they were advertising for a special of R690 per couple per night including breakfast. Hyperli, the online specials, etc. site, that I subscribe to, also advertised for the same price of R690 per couple per night including breakfast and it was there that I saw it for the first time. We even confirmed with the owner, Paul, prior to the time we actually went whether the price would be the same and he assured us of that. On arrival at the place, we were shocked to find that there was a form with a total amount of R2180 that we had to pay and I had to sign the form. Renier, was the person at the reception counter I gave the money to. The next morning I told the owner, Paul about it and he said that we shouldn't worry about it and if there was a mistake they can deposit the money into my account. We left it at that and booked out the Sunday morning and Paul said that he'll contact the 'owners' and let us know. There was correspondence on Whatsapp between myself and the owner, Paul, which can serve as proof if need be. It's been almost a month and still no money has been deposited into my account. We feel that we should warn others of the owner and his partner in crime, Renier as we certainly have been conned. I would just like to put it out there to warn potential guests of the owner and his schemes as he can do it to others as...

What a special little establishment, so close to the sea. Beautiful room, tastefully decorated with the softest towels and detailed, clean bedding...love the wood finishes and flooring...even though the staircase is quite tight and a bit of a workout, the view from the balcony makes it all worth it! Olwen and her team are the most amazing hosts who make one feel right at home from the get-go! Cynthia lights up the dining room every morning with her bright and warm smile. As a born and bred Capetonian, Le Bay gave me the privilege of feeling like a tourist in my own hometown. We literally never used our car while we stayed there...walked down to the beach, to the restaurants and enjoyed the splendour that is Gordon's Bay! We celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary and what a welcome surprise when we were greeted with a bottle of bubble and a box of really good chocolate! The owner did his best to accommodate our group after an unfortunate event where our money paid in full for a wedding was taken by the previous managing company. He offer accodation in lieu of.... which we accepted although it still came way short of what we paid. We found the GM extremely unprofessional. She does not make you feel welcome at all. Everything is an issue. Check in had hiccups even though we booked specific rooms months before. To the same with check out. You are reprimanded about everything and anything like little children in front of other guests. Can't do this can't do that. Not one of our group was comfortable at all.
