Loddeys Guest House — Hotel in Western Cape

Room is clean and spotless but reeks of chlorine or some detergent the whole time. Self catering definition means I should be able to cook my own meals so a 5 liter microwave and kettle is your complete kitchen setup I had booked apartment 2 but was told to move into apartment 1 without reasoning why and I'm looked at like I'm an idiot for asking why but hey you already received your payment before I even arrives so why bother explaining anything. No aircon and no fan and after begging the cleaner to try arranging a fan she went to remove 1 from another apartment. Nobody asked how our stay was except now till after we had left i mean it's a bit late once we are already done its like a waiter asking how your meal is after you done eating it. The shower and toilet is great with good water pressure and temperature I must admit that the bed provides a medium to hard mattress but overall good sleep. The whole place was locked up entirely as I didn't want anyone besides the cleaners inside the place once we were out Saturday and when arriving back the bathroom window was left wide open allowing any of the other guests or access once past the back gate. Kitchen utensils are quite limited .

Wifi is terrible to use data rather

I use Google reviews to provide actual feedback and prefer not giving establishments feedback as the best interest of keen vacation seekers need actual experiences not one sided views on web pages of service provides Lastly considering all guesthouses and pricing on helderberg this would still fall under value for money

I may consider spending R500 a night extra for a more comfortable establishment.But for a casual stopover this...

We booked in short time notice, looking at the high numbers, but not at the last the reviews, which afterwards seemed quite bad. Nevertheless, we were positiv surprised. We did not stay in the main guest house, which looks a little dark, but in a room next to the road. In the room we noticed that we were seperatzed from the adjourning room only by a thin door, and so we could hear everything, what was said next to us. Also, everyone could easily get into our room, from the next room. But luckily, the neighbours become quit during the night. The room was small, but had coffee maker and fridge, bathroom was clean, towels and soap ok. If you trust the neighborhood, you can park the car right in front of your door, which makes transfers from and to the car easy. Staff was very friendly, breakfast is offred. The guesthouse seems to gather more for long time guests.

I was booked into room 1, which is attached to the reception area. The two security gates constantly throughout the day & night were banged very loudly, whenever people walked in & out. Couldn’t sleep st all throughout the nights as reception lights stayed on . The curtains in the room were so thin that the lights shone through them all night. You could hear guests shouting to her the gates opened , im assuming they had forgotten their keys, took the reception staff a very long time to open up to...
