Hotel Pharos — Hotel in Seoul

Check in was a bit strange. It was 'self-checkin.' Basically you used a kiosk, but a person spoke to you (limited English) watching you from a camera. We initially came early to drop our bags and they just had us leave them with a few others in a completely unattended lobby. Felt a little sketchy. When came back for checkin time, we used the kiosk again and it gave us a key. There was someone at reception, but we didn't really interact with them. For checkout, we clicked a button by the light panel and left our key in a 'drop bucket.' Fairly good size room with large bathroom (we had booked a standard double room). Bed sheets comfortable. Room was clean. Seemed fairly updated. Tile in bathroom. Room had tea kettle with instant coffee and tea. Room lights were only controlled by panel by front door, which wasn't convenient. There was a motion sensor light by the front door, which I assume was to make it easier to see the panel in the dark, however it randomly came on a few times for no reason in the middle of the night. The bathroom had a jet tub, but our jets didn't work. Which was really disappointing. It had a shower attachment, but if you used it as a full standing shower the bathroom floor would become soaked and there were only two towels and two floor mats that weren't very big so difficult to clean up the water. The water also wasn't very hot. I only used the hot water knob and had it turned all the way up. Very close to resturants, the Olympic park and public transportation close (short walk). PROS: Clean, decent size, large bathroom, comfortable bed, close to public transportation, mostly self check-in CONS: jet-tub broken, panel for all lights controlled by 1 system by door, close to public...

Did not meet expectations||||Positives:||Room is clean||Room is large||Convenient location||Toilet and shower seperated||||Negatives:||No human contact||No service||No early check in||No communication about checking out||They don't answer the phone||Whirlpool doesn't work||They bill your credit card without warning at 11am of check out day||Bed is pretty baseline quality||||They don't have any personnel work in the front desk. You go to a vending machine and they reject you initially because it's not 3:00 p.m. yet. Finally the vending machine will spit out a room key. They don't really check to confirm your identity. You could be a hooker or somebody with nefarious motives trying to steal a room for the night.||||Fortunately, for me everything except the whirlpool worked for the night.||||I was able to walk to the baseball stadium in about 15 minutes from the hotel which was very convenient.||||However I got a nasty surprise when a maid walked in on me naked at 11:30 a.m. I have been trying to contact somebody at the hotel about when checkout time was and nobody would answer.||||Finally somebody picked up the phone on about 11:50 and I asked about getting a late check-out time they told me your credit card is already been billed because I was past the check out time. There response was basically "Our fault, your problem."||||I would recommend exploring other options in the area before choosing this one. They need to get back to making...

Service: Basically none. When I first arrived at the hotel, there was no one at the front desk. This was the first time I had seen no one at the hotel in so many years. After waiting for 10 minutes, a Korean uncle came. Wearing ordinary clothes and you couldn't tell he was a hotel employee, he asked for our passports and gave us our room cards. There was no explanation of precautions, what time to check out, nothing, it was over. I spent 1,185 yuan on this hotel room, and that’s it? What's more terrifying is behind.2. Room: The room is full of mirrors, basically half of the window facing the bed and half of it is a mirror. Facing the bathtub in the bathroom is a double-sided mirror, a double-sided mirror! ! ! ! . There are often sounds coming from nowhere in the room, which feel transparent.3. The facilities are very old and there is a musty smell in the cabinets. The cabinet in the house was opened, and there were actually pipes and pipes inside. Can you imagine it?4. To communicate with the front desk, you can only speak Korean but not English. No matter what the reason is, I just don’t agree with it and don’t recognize it.In a foreign country, pay attention to safety and change decisively.
