The highlight of our trip to South Corea
We went to Sokcho looking for a more relaxed South Korea, which we sort of found it at Seoraksan National Park. My wife and I decided to give this guesthouse the Gold Medal of our 2-week stay in South Korea where we stayed at 6 different places. Casa Seorak is wonderful and its host is a true gem. He helped us everytime we needed, giving us plenty of information to make the most of our stay in Sokcho. Our room had a jacuzzi and it was a nice treat after a sweaty hiking trail. Also, the room is super well-equipped, wifi works fine and the bed was comfy. The breakfast is more than enough to get you started and Casa Seorak is 8 min walking distance from the two main bus stops you really need, the one to get you to Seoraksan National Park (20 min by bus) or downtown Sokcho. There are a few nice restaurants within walking distance (that's 15 min for us if you're wondering), with both ends of the spectrum, a quirky Italian restaurant and a genuine sashimi-style fishmonger looking joints. It's a bit (30 min by bus) away from the two main bus terminals but you might be lucky and have the host pick you up. Taxis are non-expensive, so consider using them when bus schedules don't look good. If you plan to enjoy Seoraksan National Park this is place is just perfect, it's not close to the park but it's the second best area and the place itself is worth it.
As a side note, it looks like a place set up by someone who wanted to depart from the crazy...
Read moreJuha is the perfect host. Prior to arrival, he responded promptly to all my queries & picked us from the bus terminal punctually. He gave spot on recommendations on where to eat & what to see & how to get to these. Juha speaks good English too. The lady who assisted him was also very helpful friendly and polite.||The room we had was clean, spacious and very comfortable & has a small pantry with induction hob, electric kettle ,fridge & some cutlery and crockery. Bed linen is crisp and nicely ironed & towels were clean and fluffy. ||Location is nearer to the countryside so is more pleasant and peaceful but it’s convenient: bus stop is about 5mins walk away & it takes about 15 minutes by bus to the Mt Seorak National Park. An Italian Restaurant is less than 5 minutes walk away and there’s a Korean grill pork & beef restaurant about 10-12 minutes walk from Casa Seorak. There’s a small convenience store and a sashimi center ( with a few small local restaurants selling live seafood for selection & preparation sashimi style) about 15-20 minutes walk away. ||Breakfast is nicely done & includes juice, plain toast with jam and butter or French toast, fruits & salad & eggs. There’s on site roasted coffee beans, grinder & accessories for making hand-dripped coffee in the room. ||Stayed 4 nights and will be back if we visit Sokcho & Mt Seorak...
Read moreI stayed here with my sister's family and our father for two nights. The decor was so charming and well appointed. The common area downstairs had coffee/tea, games and plenty of visitor guides. The host was so nice and accommodating. He speaks English well and has great local recommendations. I highly recommend this place for international visitors, that are traveling by car (there is a bus, but I can't speak to its reliability and the location is not in walking distance to much)
This kind of place is right up my alley. There are not many rooms, so feels more intimate, and in a quiet neighborhood with bucolic views of the surrounding farmland. A short walk down the street is a very old hanok that can be viewed from the outside.
Breakfast is brought to your room and made to order by the host every morning. If you have a large appetite, you may not be satiated, but it's enough to get you going. I had no complaints, and I love the personal touch he puts into the garnishes :)
I would absolutely come here again and I would recommend it to all my friends who enjoy staying with a friendly host. The only thing to consider is the location if you are traveling by public transportation and have a...
