Stayed here with my wife and son for 2 nights. We agreed a price with Marga(the owner) for a double room over e-mail. The room was pretty ugly, noisy and dirty, with ants all over the place but we did not complain about it there was nobody to complain with.|In fact Marga did not welcome us at our arrival as we came in the afternoon (not evening or night) - apparently she only spends a couple of hours in the morning, mainly to collect breakfast money. Next day she did not ask for our generalities (IDs and so on) as she wanted not to pay taxes for our stay - which she probably did. |Checkout day came and I wanted to pay:|Firstly she said that I could pay by card, which is what I wanted to do, however she also said that I should pay more as the room had an extra bed that we never asked for, nor agreed about.|I answered (twice) that we agreed on something, and that this is an unfair practice, so she stopped asking for more money but said I had to pay cash as “the machine did not work”, I answered that it was weird as 30” earlier she told me the opposite, so she annoyingly took my card and.. tried to CHARGE ME for 50% EXTRA MONEY!!! Luckily I noticed it and stopped the transaction. She justified herself saying it was a mistake (which was honesty impossible to believe and figures were not making sense). In the end the police came and agreed I was right on all points (even though she knew the officer) and also told her - in front of me - that it’s an offense not to declare guests.|In all a very bad person masked by a normally fake one. If possible avoid this hostel and...

Read moreHostal Can Tiu is located on a narrow cobbled street in the heart of the old town of Alaro. It is accessed up a flight of stairs from the street. Marga (manager) provides a friendly welcome and efficient attention.||The Hostal is very convenient for the town's several bars and restaurants, some immediately outside the front and others just around the corner in the main square.||There is a good standard of cleanliness in the adequate sized bedrooms. The clean en-suite bathrooms have modern fittings and consist of shower, w.c. and wash basin. Towels and soap are provided.||Interior doors and walls not particularly soundproof so "late nighters" might disturb "early to bedders". Also, rooms at the front might suffer from street noise as cars pass along the cobbled surface, though it's not that busy. Rooms at the back will be quieter and have good views over the surrounding countryside.||Breakfast consists of a nicely presented buffet with fruit juice, cereal, cold meats, cheese, several homemade preserves, a variety of breads, a toaster and cooked egg choices. Tea and coffee as well. Breakfast is served in the small lobby/reception area so it is a bit cramped.||For those with cars there is "on street" parking in the main square, but beware of Saturday market days when the square and nearby streets are closed to cars. There is a free public car park about 10 mins walk from the hostal.||Overall, an excellent choice for budget but comfortable clean accommodation...
