Arrived at Cambrils family resort as part of the Barcelona Halloween football tournament. Will review two parts separately. ||CAMBRILS |Villa they look great on the outside, bright and vibrant huts. Inside very basic and could do with a good clean. They provide hairdryer, microwave, dishwasher, kettle and toaster and hob (No oven, be aware of this before buying oven food from shop lol), fridge freezer. Towels are replaced every 3 days. ||Unbeknown to us due to it being off season most swimming pools had been emptied and the others contaminated by the storm. Meaning no swimming pools had been opened the whole time. Which was strange as we had been to a hotel the night before who cleaned and opened the pool within a day of the storm. ||Again due to it being off season they provided no family entertainment at anytime. The mini golf only opened at night time and cost €4pp. The trampolines were closed and randomly opened at a cost of €3pp. The indoor pool has to be booked in advance and was booked out for big groups already meaning we couldn’t book. We had been told it would have cost us €9pp to use. Tennis again closed due to the net being broken . Football and basketball courts good, however due to the lack of other facilities was a total free for all rabble of around 40/50 kids all competing, fighting and arguing. The resort appeared to be facilitating lots of different sports groups of all ages. ||Meal times - |Think school canteens and you won’t be far away. You get a bottle of water at the table with paper cups and can use the coffee machine. Ur given time slots of 45mins for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Our time slots were 9:00, 13:00, 21:00. No other food facilities were open apart from waffle bar at night time. Meaning if you wanted a snack you needed to buy from the shop and make in Villa or apartments or go outside resort, a good 20 mins walk. The food was roughly the same for lunch and dinners and nothing came out hot. ||Bar - only one bar open with one staff serving at all times. Not a great selection of drinks, the guys appeared happy with the beer selection. However, over all bar was cheap and some bought from shop and drank the carry out at tables. ||Football |Monday - check in 16:00 , Dinner 20:00||Tuesday- breakfast 9:00. Everyone was then walked a good 20 mins walk to the astros 10:30-12:00 for 11aside friendly game of football. Then walked back 20 mins for lunch at 13:00. ||Group stages 18:00- 20:00. After complaints to the organisers they got us a bus to and from astro as agreed as part of the package. Some of our party struggled walking this distance. The festival had so much potential unfortunately there was only two teams a Scottish team and an Irish team with 21 kids each who were u12 making 6 teams in total. The other two teams were u10 Spanish teams. Obviously the size difference and physicality was visible for all to see and clearly unfair. The Spanish kids didn’t come back the next day for the finals and award ceremony. ||Wednesday- breakfast- We booked the Barcelona football trip through the tournament organisers at a cost of €49pp. |A couple of people wanted to pull out of this trip on the Monday due to a few in the trip becoming ill, but we got told they would still need to pay full price for tickets. ||Picked up at 9:45, arrived in Barcelona for 11:30 and told to be back at the bus for 13:00 to get the bus back to resort. Spent more time on the bus tour than touring Barcelona football museum. Due to the times we also missed lunch at the resort and most didn’t have enough time for lunch in Barcelona. Some never even had time to visit the football store for a souvenir or print out photos. ||Arrived back to resort 14.30 and told by the organisers we would all be picked up tonight by bus to astro for 17:00 . Leaving 2.5 hours to feed kids in a resort with no restaurants or snack bars and not enough time to head into town and get 21 kids feed before playing football. Shambles! ||Got the bus back to Astro for finals to find it was only the Scottish and Irish playing. Meaning some only got one game of football. The ceremony was done in the middle of the astro with parents cheering on. To be expected in a small tournament but not one a child has paid £349pp to enter. Each child got a small medal and the winners got a trophy. ||Thursday- leaving day! Happy days! :-) ||Not a trip I would recommend to anyone. Would it be a good place in high season with swimming pools open. Who knows I most definitely wouldn’t risk paying the...
Read moreWe are just back from a one week stay here and are genuinely shocked at all the positive reviews on here.||The place is completely overrated, overpriced, outdated and over occupied.||The pools are absolutely packed, no space to swim, getting bumped into, whacked by people etc and the lifeguards are all on their phones. The pools are also limited, very few compared to other places we have been and certainly not enough slides. very few shades too for young children and only one little toddler pool.||You have to pay a "household deposit" of €100 which we weren't advised of before booking that you receive back after you leave so you are on edge all week hoping nothing happens in the accommodation for you to lose your deposit, worried about toddlers making stains etc. You have to empty the bins yourself, leave the place clean before leaving (so no relaxing the night before your flight, you are cleaning instead), there are no cleaning supplies so you have to buy these in the shop, same with bin bags. The sheets aren't changed for stays of 7 days either and the towels are only changed after 3 days.||Food on offer in the restaurant is all the same, pizza, pasta, chips etc. Very little to choose from and the staff are very rude bar one blonde lady who was very nice (she was the only nice staff member in the entire place)||Only positive is the bakery and supermarket which we found good value for money and good variety on offer.||STAFF - The staff here are the rudest people I have ever had the displeasure of meeting in my entire life. From the male and female on reception, to the staff at the bars, restaurant, supermarket, bakery, even the lifeguards - all disgustingly rude and unfriendly. Not a smile to be seen between them.||On arrival we were told check in is strictly 4pm regardless of if your room is ready or not which we found very unfair as we had been travelling from 2am and thought perhaps our room would be even ready around 2pm. We walked past and it was empty and spotless so it was ready so it was very unreasonable to not let us into it.|So we were brought to leave out stuff in lockers on the other side of the resort (which we had to go collect again at 4pm) - nightmare.|In between this, we brought all our stuff for the day (we have young children) so nappies, swimsuits, towels etc to the pool and sat at the very back in the grass under a shade. At 2pm, we had just sat down to takeaway pizza and were minding our business at the back beside the gates and two staff came over and insisted we move. They said they close the pool for lunch, I said i know this, we aren't using the pool, we won't go into it, we are just sitting here (at the very back about a metre from the gate) because we have so much stuff and they won't let us into our room. We are just feeding our children and they stood over us until we walked the one metre and stood outside the gate. They didn't even close the gate. This incident ruined our entire holiday and was the worst ever start to a holiday to be spoken to like this and for two men to be so unreasonable. I could understand if we were sitting ANYWHERE else but if you saw where we were sitting and where they asked us to go and get ALL our staff and move our children and box up our food, it was literally one metre away, they could easily have just left us, this is supposed to be a family resort and we explained to them that we had no room to go to.||The road down to the beach is also not pram/child friendly. You would think with the amount of guests they had (so overcrowded) that they must be making a fortune so the least they could do is offer their local council the money (sponsor) to make this more accessible and build a smoother path down.||Avoid this place, there are PLENTY of other nice resorts you can go and spend your money in, these people do not appreciate...
Read moreAfter 5 years staying in cambrils park resort, I am sad to be writing this review. Its is an expensive holiday that we were always willing to pay for feeling of safety and general relaxation of being able to give the kids some freedom. Unfortunately this year we saw the other side of cambrils customer service when issues do arise. We had a cockroach infestation in our 3 bed Med apartment number 1056. We caught 41 cockroaches over our first 2 nights. I had to stay on couch in friends accommodation outside the resort on the second night with my youngest child as it was so bad in the bedroom we had her sleeping in. They had to move us on 3rd day in order to treat the apartment and seal up entry points. There was no similar accommodation available so they had to split our family between 2 lesser value style accommodations. Kids were upset and it wasn't the best family holiday in these circumstances. However we got on with it. Unfortunately when we put our claim in for the difference in price of the more expensive apartment we booked and the cheaper one we ended up in, we were met with cold indifference. After filling out two forms onsite and a month of emails back and forth, senior management are still refusing to refund us the difference. All they have offered in a discount for the first 3 nights. 2 of which we had no sleep as we were catching cockroaches all night. Just a warning to all that if you have an issue, make sure you sort the financial before you leave. I was told the senior management were cold and incompassionate by staff onsite. Now having dealt with them I understand this sentiment fully. We have been hugely overcharged for a stressful holiday with very little relaxation time. We had to set up family whatsapp to keep up to speed with where kids were and who they were with as we were in separate accommodations. We had risk of assuming they were with others if we didn't stay on top of it. An extremely disappointing holiday and even more disappointing response from the company. Especially as staff onsite told us the tenants before us had reported a cockroach issue 4 days prior to our arrival. Head office now deny this. So either staff onsite or head office are lying..
As you will see from below response, this is the stock answer we keep getting. We accept cockroavhes are part of hot environments. However 41 caught indoors over 2 nights is definitely an issue that we couldn't have been expected to ignore. We also accept we had to be moved and only availability was 2 lesser accommodations. However, had we wanted our family split we would have originally booked 2 separate places. We received no cleaning for the 2 accommodations throughout the holiday. Also one of the accommodations had no outdoor area and was not a holiday unit. It was used for staff and friends accommodation with 1 bedroom and then communal couch and shower and toilet cubicles. It was not a holiday accommodation that we would choose. Cambrils selling point is the freedom of outdoors. An apartment above the restaurant with not even a balcony for getting some fresh air does not fit this. I can only let others know that should you have an issue while in cambrils park resort, I would encourage you to have it fully dealt with before you leave. Staff onsite were very pleasant and helpful. If left up to them, I know we would have been looked after as they all knew we were a genuine case. Unfortunately, the customer service department we have had to deal with via email do not seem to have any understanding of the impact of separating a family during their long awaited holiday together. I leave it there as I cannot go in circles trying to explain this when I keep receiving the same stock cold responses. I did feel.the need to warn others for future reference should they have...
