Just returned from a 7 night stay. Will start with the Pro’s.|Location - not far off from the M10, quiet serene location at the base of the mountains. Peaceful, tranquil and relaxing. Building - as pictured, beautiful stone finca. The grounds perfectly maintained, gorgeous pool with extremely comfortable sun loungers. The patio for lunch is covered and some tables a few steps down if you want more sun. Small bar available during the day if you need a drink and they will bring to you by the pool. Breakfast- very sufficient. You can squeeze your own fresh orange juice. Would have liked more of fruit assortment. Fresh eggs and crepes are also offered but we were always happy with buffet. The service at breakfast and the one dinner we had was very nice. The severs were very friendly. Our evening dinner became chilly outside. They lit the propane heaters and offered blankets. Nice touch. |I won’t use the word con but rather a little disappointed. Room- we had a junior suite. We found it a little depressing. Loved the stone walls, floors and wood beams. The accent bedding was a deep burgundy which made it feel old. Ok, it is an old finca but we just thought another color would make it look fresh. There was no separate room in the junior suite. My husband gets up very early in the am so not the best for us personally. No coffee pot or iron. Two things very important to my husband. Waiting till 8 am for the breakfast to open is very late for his coffee. The TV should be mounted on the wall rather then sit on desk. If someone is working at their computer a corner of the TV is blocked. The TV was programmed in German and we tried everything to reprogram. Yes, we should of asked. The desk needed a coat of paint. Very scratched with all kinds of water stains as was the mini bar. The mini bar was in a cabinet that the door did not shut appropriately. Just a few maintenance steps would be an improvement. A comfortable chair or 2 in the room rather then a long stiff antique settee would improve the room. I don’t always want to lay in the bed. The bathrobes need replacing. They look like they have been washed a 100 times. Very tattered. The bath towels were very stiff. Bathroom - plenty of space, 2 sinks, comfortable rain shower, all just looked very old but again kind of goes with the look of the hotel. Air Conditioning - it was warm during the day during our stay. Yes, it was chilly at night but the room never cooled down. We were told they had not turned on the AC for the whole building yet as it was too early in the season. We were very uncomfortable and when blow drying my hair to go out at night I would just work up a sweat. Opening windows during the day is possible but not at night. We closed the windows right before it got dark one night and then realized the room was covered in all kinds of bugs. It was a bit freaky.|Dinner- our first night we did the 3 course meal. First course and desert were fine. I had chicken that consisted of 3 medallions that were over cooked and dry. It came with a sauce that had no taste. My husband had salmon and said it was good. You must tell them by 3 pm if you plan to have dinner there so they could plan. This did not work for us and besides we like to try new restaurants. We may have dined another night but did not feel it was worth it although the ambiance is very nice. Did not have much interaction with front desk other then to make 2 dinner reservations. Just didn’t get that overall feeling they were there to help, I’m sure they were based on other reviews but didn’t get the warm and fuzzy as we did on Menorca...
Read moreHad a great week at Monnaber Vell.|Breakfast was high quality and plentiful. Fruit, meats, cheese, pastries freshly baked bread and eggs/crepes cooked to order. And it’s not cheap rubbish either, all tasty and fresh.|The lunches were good, dinners too. You do have to book in advance for dinner, which was no problem for us, and saves waste. Surely the way forward?|All food was served on the terrace, with breathtaking view of surrounding mountains and the infinity pool.|We had 2 suites, 1 premium for our group. These were all unique, and all a decent size. Beds comfy, and air con kept cool even in a very hot week. The furnishings are traditional rather than modern, which may not be to everyone’s taste, but fine by us. Bathrooms a great size, especially premium. The bathroom there is like the size of some hotels rooms, separate shower and bath, 2 sinks. A really good option.|The pool area was just stunning. A saltwater pool, so no chlorine. First time we have done that, so much better for skin and environment.|Plenty of room to do lengths, and a lovely deep end. |The tranquillity there is unrivalled. Yes, there are other guests, but this isn’t an all inclusive type holiday with water gym and happy hours, everyone on our trip was pleasant.|There are no lifeguards, but not sure there should really be on a pool this size. We tend to go I holiday to be with kids, so not an issue,|It’s reasonably central for those with a car, but I think you probably would need one. 25 mins to Alcudia, outlet mall, palma, Porto pollenca.|The staff there are all really helpful. I cant remember names, but that’s fine as they were all great.|A couple of things to be aware of, or constructive:|We arrived at 10:30, and although instructions were left, it would have been nice to have a welcome and assistance. I don’t think that was too late for that.|Some of the rooms are accessed via a very steep staircase. One of our party was 80, and would have struggled with these. Luckily her room was accessed via a shallower set of stairs.|The owner introduced himself at breakfast and talked through how the pool worked without chlorine, the plants etc. it really was fascinating, maybe a talk by one of the pool technicians for the kids might be an idea? My kids would have loved that anyway!|On the last day, we noticed a couple of guests smoking by the pool. Not sure if this is allowed, but wasn’t pleasant. We were leaving so to be fair, didn’t raise. |All in all, a fantastic stay, and we will...
