A short stay in June - a perfectly adequate hotel for the price. Its slightly dated in a charming old-fashioned Spanish style with lots of dark wood - you won't find super modern or Uber cool but you will find a clean room, comfortable bed & super friendly and helpful staff. There are two parts to the hotel & upon arrival it's initially confusing as to where to drive to check in. The entrance is impressive but no signs saying which direction to drive & where to park or even where reception is! However all forgotten once you are in your room, and you can appreciate the tranquility & spaciousness of the place. We were not staying in the main hotel, but in the 'other bit' (I don't know what it was called). Please don't for a moment I think that this is inferior to the main hotel, our upstairs room was spacious with a separate seating area leading onto a balcony with two chairs and table, which overlooked the large pool and countryside beyond. The super king bed had a memoryfoam mattress and two pillows each – one being a long bolster & the other a scatter cushion size. My top tip - if you are fussy about pillows, you might want to take your own. The bathroom had a bath with shower over – perfectly adequate and clean with plenty of hot water (the surrounding farm land has their own solar panels ). Being an eco-hotel, they issue you with two large towels each – one for the bathroom and a yellow one for the pool. This is actually a really good idea and saves on a huge amount of laundry (having recently stayed in a very (expensive) upmarket hotel in Menorca where guests liberally helped themselves to pool towels, the caution exercised at Monnaber Nou was refreshing). The surroundings of the hotel are farmland, so expect to hear sheep bleating. You can also hear neighbouring peacocks! It was a very peaceful stay, and we very much enjoyed the large pool and sunbeds. Breakfast at €10. each was plentiful with lots of choice. You can choose to eat breakfast at either venue in the hotel, but we preferred the breakfast at our little annexe, the chap in charge was charming. Overall, a great day, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend but you...
Read moreBefore making the reservation, I thought the complaints I read on Google were exaggerated due to the answers given by the hotel. Every complaint made is correct to the point. I don't know where to start. The spa area is really neglected, the hygiene is questionable. The pools were tried to be heated but they were not hot. There are interesting formations on the ceiling of the sauna, I can't identify them. The floors were not clean, the shower areas and all the sitting areas were rusted. I can't complain too much about the breakfast, but you shouldn't expect too much hygiene. As for the room, the first thing I have to say is that the sound insulation is incredibly bad, even non-existent. It was not nice at all that all the noise of a family with children in our room next door could be heard as if they were staying in the same room with us. Although we informed the reception 4-5 times at 21:00 in the evening and requested a room change, unfortunately no solution-oriented action was taken. When the issue was discussed personally in the morning, another room was suggested very kindly and solution-oriented, but they couldn't promise that it would be quiet because for some incomprehensible reason they can't pay attention to whether the people in the neighboring rooms have children or not. As a result, it is a very nice location and garden but unfortunately we had to leave the hotel and go to another hotel with a bad experience. It is a really old hotel, a beautiful historical monument, maybe a museum but it is not suitable...
Read moreI wanted to take a moment to recommend Monnaber .. without doubt in 6 years of living in Mallorca the best culinary experience I’ve had.
From start to finish was a totally refreshing experience. As you follow the road up to the hotel, you are surrounded with stunning scenary and nature. As you arrive, the stunning Mallorquin architecture is a feast for the eyes. You are greeted by friendly staff and shown to the restaurant, which overlooks the countryside looking toward Sa Pobla and the Bay of Alcudia. Our waiter Nadal, was informative and explained that both the suckling pig and lamb, come from the grounds of the hotel. I opted for Fresh salad with Mahon cheese to start followed by solomilo steak … cooked “poco hecho” and probably the best steak i’ve eaten in my life. My husband choose carpaccio and the suckling pig .. which he also told is easily the best he has had.
It’s very good value for money. Infact much cheaper than most of the restaurants in Port De Pollenca … who are not only charging extortionate prices for sub standard meals, show little attention to detail or imagination.
The atmosphere was relaxed and i’ve come away knowing that this will be a regular trip for me. 25 minutes in the car from the port and well worth the drive.
Thanks guys for making our anniversary very...
