Overall the hotel lived up to expectations. Spotlessly clean, lovely service from staff, good facilities, plenty of sun-beds at any time of day, a good range of food in the restaurant (we were Half Board) and decent machine coffee with breakfast. There’s a small fridge in the room (no ice box which would have been great). No kettle but being a saddo, when I read a review that suggested bringing a travel kettle, I did that and was so glad I did! If you enjoy a cuppa first thing then it was handy. The shower is unbelievably powerful - and nice and hot if you want it. The resort is more suited to those with young children - our teenagers were a bit bored. The pool area is lovely - so clean and well kept. Even the toilets by the pool were spotlessly clean all the time. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. Drinks are ok price-wise but basics like water or soft drinks are a bit overpriced. Only negatives that knocked this down from a 5 star review/experience: 1. The air con was NOT good at all when we arrived but after a few days the temperature gradually got down to be nice and cool (it was 31°C outside every day). At first this felt like a major issue but once the rooms cooled after a couple of days, it didn’t detract as long as you kept air con on 24/7. 2. The juice at breakfast came from a machine and was undrinkable on the whole. I think it’s better first thing in the morning but it becomes more and more diluted as breakfast goes on. Water was also only available (in tiny glasses) from this machine at breakfast - at other times you have to buy water, which only comes in 500ml bottles (rather than larger shareable bottle) so the cost can mount up. 3. The entertainment was variable at best - we didn’t stay for most of it. The girl who takes the quiz, bingo etc is great - full of energy, but overall the entertainment didn’t help create a sense of community among guests, which was a shame. I’m not a huge fan of taking part in the usual pool games during the day or always being at the hotel bar for entertainment every night but this holiday made me realise that NOT having that can make quite a quiet resort with visitors from many countries (much better than brits-only resorts!) seem a bit soulless or lacking a community feel. Overall I am pleased the hotel was as lovely as it looks and that the place was so clean. Those are huge pluses! If they sorted out a few basics like the juice/water and had better air con and entertainment I’d be back in a flash.

For me I would rate this Hotel a 3* or below. With the amount of flaws and service that I had to chase and sort out my self I won't stay here again for the price we paid. Check in and arriving early the Reception staff was great 👍. But there where no assurance where everything was, just check you in and bye bye. Lifts was a Joke slow. As a 4 star hotel in the room should have the basic Kettle and Coffee/ Tea ( we had to pay €8 to hire and €5 Deposit. JUST TO USE A Kettle. We had to purchase Tea bags and Coffee and Milk at the local supermarket. (We only got €5 Deposit back) I can buy a cheap Kettle with €8 (MONEYs again) The room are small with the sliding door in our room was a joke. The wardrobe sliding door both track was broken so for duration of the 7 day we stayed we had to pull the door over and trapping our fingers. The Safe Box didn't work im guessing it cost (MONEYs). Tv channels, 📺 was ok but what's the point having Netflix and YouTube that can't connect. TV so High up on the wall The fridge was outside its cupbored space. TOILET: Nicely sized. The shower provides you with a strong jet was shower 🚿 👍. It comes with a Job after shower the water leaks around the shower try every time because it over flow, due to its not deep enoght to trap the water in the shower tray. Toliet ventilation is not great. The hair dryer so low to the group the wires gets trap with the glass door and to close to the bin. The tissue holder next to the toilet keep falling off, the towel hanger was loose.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and personally thenis hotel is not a 4 star and need to improve on a lot especially with their front house staff. On the day we arrived there was 2 staff members at reception, however we waited 20-30min before we got served. Both staff members were serving one customer at the same time and not a single one of them greeted us.

Rooms: The rooms aren’t as big as they make them look on the pictures. The TV in the rooms had all the apps, Netflix, YouTube etc. but none of the apps worked. When we called reception to ask, they informed us that the only thing available to watch on the TV was live TV, none of the apps were working. Rooms were not that clean. We discovered on one of the nights that our sheets had not been changed, however the beds had been made. Now hygienically that’s disgusting. One of our kids had put body cream in the sheets by accident and in the evening as we were about to sleep, we found the same sheets still on the bed. Now that makes you think what else they were not cleaning. Toilets were dirty with stains in them. Towels were also not that clean. Before you sleep, please check your sheets as they might not have been changed but the bed would have been made.

Swimming: Both outdoor pools were not heated. During the time we went the weather wasn’t the greatest. Meaning the kids couldn’t fully use any of the pools. The least they could do is have the kids pool heated. There’s a large seating area near the bar, which was nice and small playground for the kids which our kids enjoyed. There was basketball court, but no balls and when we asked at reception they mentioned that they didn’t have the balls so that was rubbish! There was a small wellness centre (spa & gym). The sauna & steam rooms were rubbish as they were not working. Even thought they made an exception for the kids to be allowed in the spa pool, ours kids kept getting kicked out by other guests which wasn’t fair because all they wanted to do was swim.

Food: The Food wasn’t the greatest. Some meats were raw which was very unpleasant. Buffet was quite small with a limited choice. There was a lot more cold foods than hot food. Cocktails were rubbish. Glasses were always dirty in the restaurant. Restaurant staff were however very polite and nice with great customer service. Outdoor bar staff were also nice. However reception staff were so rude & arrogant especially Maria & Paula the two older women. Re-training is highly needed on how to speak to guests regardless or their age or ethnicity.

There was no entertainment during our entire stay. According to the staff, it’s because it was the first week that the hotel had opened, despite the hotel having quite a lot of guests. Two days of our stay, it rained heavily and there was only one medium sitting area for guests to sit in. The bar wasn’t opened! No music being played! No TV! There was basically nothing to do.

Hotel location is not the best. It’s in the middle of residential houses, the views from the balcony aren’t the greatest.

Would not return to this hotel. It’s not...

We stayed as a party of seven across two rooms. We arrived at an ungodly hour after a long coach transfer from the airport but the gentlemen on reception was fantastic and very attentive to our knackered kids. We got to our room and there were four sandwiches, salads and fruit waiting for us, which was thoughtful as we hadn't eaten since before boarding the plane six hours earlier. A nice touch.

In the clear light of day the hotel has a modern and refreshing look, very light and airy. Our room, bathroom and balcony were very clean and we were generally very pleased with it.

The pool area is great! Trust me, we spent the vast majority of our time on this holiday at its side. The basketball court/football area is a nice touch for older kids and the kids play area, while small, kept our four year old busy for a good couple of hours.

Maybe ours palettes aren't as refined or sophisticated as some of the others that left reviews but we thought the food was generally very good. Being a bit of a greedy guts I enjoyed the range of salad items, cured meats and different cheeses for starters and always managed to make myself a decent main from the buffet. The desserts were very good too. I don't think some people appreciate that the hotel is catering to several nationalities simultaneously, so there may be items you might find "questionable" but surely that's down to you not being accustomed to them.

The staff were very good, helpful and clearly work very hard. Our daughter adored Romana the entertainment manager, she's a real credit to the organisation.

Portocolom is quiet. This is not the fault of the hotel. There are busier parts of the island. Do your research. We were looking for somewhere quiet we could laze by a pool, if you want that this is the place.

I've seen criticism of the square infront of the hotel and that nothing happens. We must have been very lucky as we spent six nights there and there were four events on! Again, this has nothing to do with the hotel.

The bars and restaurants felt like they were meant for locals? I'm not sure what that means. I'd rather go to a nice place to eat or drink that locals go to than a Burger King.

So far, so positive. But I have a few niggles, but feel they are minor.

Our aircon was blowing hot on our first day. After looking for instructions online it turned out the thermostat was set to "heat", hence blowing hot. I feel like there should be instructions to the thermostat in the room to avoid this.

The pool. The composite around the pool gets very hot in the day, but it is the Med! Some of trim around the pool was coming loose. We must have heard the same five or six songs on the pool bar PA at least twenty times in one day. Whatever, not really a problem.

It sometimes took a while to get served at the pool bar, which I put down to a mixture of not enough staff on the bar and having cocktails that are time consuming to make on the menu.

All in all, we very much enjoyed our stay at JS...
