Our stay at the Cal Roure was perfection. From the delightfully comfortable bed, cozy room, perfect bathroom, and stunning decor, we couldn't have asked for a nicer experience. The 3 person staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely interested in making our stay both enjoyable and relaxing. Which it was! To say that they went out of their way for us is an understatement. When Josep and his wife Vanessa (the owners) learned that we were celebrating my husband's birthday on Sunday, they immediately tried to book a restaurant for us. Most restaurants in Spain are closed and do not serve dinners on Sunday nights (including the restaurant at Cal Roure itself). The solution? They prepared and served us a private dinner, on the terrace, overlooking the beautiful square, under the stars. The meal was comprised of Catalonian dishes and wines. As we are already deeply appreciative of Catalonian food and local wines, this was the extra touch that made the entire evening magical. A special shout out goes to friendly and interesting Montxo who helped make the weekend so wonderful. In addition to being a beautiful boutique hotel, the Cal Roure is situated on the charming square in Igualada surrounded by nice shops and excellent restaurants. Further afield, Montserrat and its beautiful monastery are an easy and breathtaking drive away. We also took a drive further west to the ancient city of Lleida and visited the ruins of La Seu Vella which is a spectacular cathedral and fortress high on a hill overlooking the city. All in all, it was a perfect weekend, crowned by an amazing weekend at...

Read moreIt is a small hotel at the best place in town; Plaça de l’Ajuntament, across from City Hall. It has an elevator and an electric wheel chair lift. The nearest parking is Plaça de la Creu Igualada. It is about 2 blocks from the hotel. The hotel is located in the historic district and most streets are pedestrian only, with centuries old cobbled stoned roads. Steps from the door of the hotel are eateries and coffee shops, plus an assortment of small shops. It is also near Ramblas de San Isidro, a perfect place to people watch, drink a delicious latte, ice cream, frappe drinks and our favorite; horchata (made from tiger nuts). People are very friendly if you approach them. Although the language in this part of Spain is Catalan, most people speak Spanish and some even English. They will be sure to try to help you no matter what. Have a great time...
