Hotel NH La Avanzada — Hotel in Leioa

It's always nice to see other people commenting in a similar manner to what your review will say! I feel for the hotel to an extent as there are certain elements of my stay which they can't really do much about, such as their location, but otherwise this was a perfectly acceptable stay for one night on business.||||It's interesting to see that this NH review is very similar to what I wrote about a sister property in Logrono as they seem to suffer from similar issues which might either be the way in which NH fit out a hotel, or simply how the Spanish put up their buildings...not sure which it is, but paper thin walls in hotels is something for me which is a cardinal sin in the hospitality industry...nobody wants to hear the shennanigans of their neighbouring room(s) and I got woken up by one of the rooms next door both in the late evening when trying to get to sleep and again, first thing in the morning before waking up which detracted from my sleep quality which was actually pretty good in a comfortable, clean bed.||||The view from my room was OK, the slightly bigger issue was that it overlooked a busy main road, and since it was very warm, I wanted the window open, and then it was very noisy from the road, so it was a kind of no-win situation! But I prefer an open window to any AC system. ||||The room (and hotel) is modern, clean and simple. It does what it needs to, and as people have commented before, this is NOT a 4* hotel in the traditional (and British) sense. There are very limited facilities on site and this is a budget hotel wrapped up in modern clothes! But everything was fresh & clean and that is important so full marks there! The shower in the room was also very good; my only issue was that the bidet/toilet got in the way of you getting in and out of the shower, so the bathroom was badly designed (and too small). The only other tiny thing in room 507 was there was no USB sockets in the room which for a modern hotel was surprising and I needed to charge my phone and had forgotten my plug. Luckily, your kind staff on reception were very helpful indeed and lent me a charger for a couple of hours.||||Finally, the breakfast was perfectly OK...there was a decent selection of options to eat and the fruit juices especially were very good.||||Overall, this is a good business hotel for 1-2 night stays, and has good access to the Bilbao city/port and...

Leider absolut keine 4 Sterne wert – enttäuschender Aufenthalt

Wir haben dieses Hotel als 4-Sterne-Haus gebucht, aber in Wirklichkeit entspricht es – wenn man sehr großzügig ist – maximal zwei Sternen. Der Aufenthalt war in vielerlei Hinsicht enttäuschend:

Zimmer & Ausstattung: In den Zimmern gab es keinen Wasserkocher, keine Kaffeemaschine, keine Möglichkeit, sich selbst etwas zuzubereiten – nicht einmal gegen Bezahlung. Eine kleine Flasche Wasser war für den gesamten Aufenthalt (4–5 Tage) vorgesehen, und wurde auch nicht nachgefüllt. Für ein 4-Sterne-Hotel ist das schlicht inakzeptabel.

Kaffeeversorgung – eine Katastrophe: Kaffee war ausschließlich während der Frühstückszeiten am Buffet erhältlich. Wer früher raus musste, hatte keine Chance, auch nicht auf Nachfrage an der Rezeption – nicht einmal eine Tasse oder etwas Milch wurde angeboten. In der Umgebung gibt es keine Cafés, also war man völlig auf das Hotel angewiesen. Selbst ein Verkaufsautomat oder eine kostenpflichtige Maschine war nicht vorhanden.

Frühstück: Für 14,50 € pro Person haben wir ein Frühstück bekommen, das absolut nicht dem Niveau eines 4-Sterne-Hotels entspricht. Keine frischen Tomaten oder Gurken, keine Oliven (obwohl wir in Spanien waren!), und besonders für Vegetarier eine armselige Auswahl. Als Krönung gab es an einem Morgen keinen schwarzen Tee mehr – und auf Nachfrage hieß es nur: „Haben wir nicht mehr.“

Getränkeautomat: Dieser bot nur Cola Zero an – normale Cola war nicht erhältlich, auch nicht auf Nachfrage. Die Antwort: „Was da ist, ist da.“ – Keine Flexibilität, kein Servicegedanke.

Meetingraum – völlig überteuert und schlecht organisiert: Wir hatten einen Tagungsraum gebucht. Getränke wie Kaffee oder Tee waren nicht inkludiert – mussten extra bestellt und zu horrenden Preisen abgerechnet werden, obwohl der Kaffee in einer simplen Thermoskanne geliefert wurde und schnell kalt war. Für einen simplen Projektor wurden sage und schreibe 250 € pro Tag (!) berechnet – ein Preis, der in keiner Weise gerechtfertigt ist. Für den gleichen Preis bekommt man heute ein neues Gerät im Handel.

Auch organisatorisch eine Katastrophe: Niemand an der Rezeption fühlte sich zuständig. Fragen zum Tagungsraum wurden mit „Ich bin nicht verantwortlich“ abgetan, zuständige Personen waren oft nicht erreichbar. Die Rechnung für den Raum konnten wir beim Check-out nicht erhalten, da „niemand dafür zuständig“ war. Diese kam später per Mail.

Sauberkeit & Personal: Die Zimmer waren sauber, das ist einer der wenigen positiven Punkte. Das Personal an der Rezeption war höflich, aber wenig lösungsorientiert. Das Frühstückspersonal hingegen war freundlich.

Fazit: Dieses Hotel erfüllt in keinster Weise den Standard eines 4-Sterne-Hauses. Wer Wert auf Service, Verlässlichkeit und ein gutes Frühstück legt, sollte sich definitiv ein anderes Hotel suchen. Ich reise viel – aber so ein schlechtes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis habe ich selten...

My friend and I are on a motorbiking trip to the Pyrenees and staying in the NH La Avanzada Hotel as it was the only one we could find that wasn't fully booked in Bilbao and I can see why... There is no Restraunt here in the Hotel and no way to have a some Tea or coffee as there is no coffee making facility's in our room, we booked a twim room there is one small bottle of water in the room... Perhaps the management expect us to share the water bottle??? Of all the Hotels we've stayed in during out trip to the Pyrenees including Hotels in Framce and Spain I have no complaints about any of them as they had the basics in the rooms and all could provide coffees and pastry at a minimum, this Hotel was the least equiped by far and is way overpriced at €175 for a twin room thats...
