“Maderuelo a step back in time……”||This five-room boutique hotel is beautifully kept by Isabel and Javier. This is place off the beaten path which may be very rare to find in Spain. We felt right at home their great hospitality. We were the only couple in the hotel since they just had a three-day holiday weekend the previous weekend. We had the hotel all to ourselves. They catered to us on hand and foot. The food was delicious and very nice presentation. The breakfast was pretty filling so we took the breakfast muffins for the road. It was such a nice treat! They also carry some organics wines that are for sale for dinner. Our second night, Javier was able to whip us dinner at last minute notice. We were so appreciative of his willingness to make us dinner. We stayed in the “El Jardin de las hadas” and the room was very clean nice view of the back mountain. We loved the town of Maderuelo. When we got there on Friday afternoon it was extremely quiet. It was so nice after five days in Madrid. We had a drink at the bar on the hill just outside the entrance of Maderuelo which faces the lake and bridge. In ten minutes we saw two cars drive across the bridge and we were the only ones at the bar until we were leaving. We loved the tranquility that we experienced for a half a day since on Saturday it was very busy with day visitors since the weather was beautiful. We took a walk across the bridge and visited the “ermita” which is worth asking for the key at the restaurant next to it. We watched a short video about the history and the frescos on the wall of the “ermita”. On the walk back to up the hill, the town dog will walk you back up the hill. He also ran along my husband when he went for his morning run. Our only regret is not spending more time in this little town and not having bicycles. It would’ve been nice to bike the roads around Maderuelo since there’s not that much traffic on these back roads. We hope to stop by here in the future when we plan our next trip to the northern...

Within easy reach of fabulous places and magical walks on the doorstep. |This cozy hotel offers a wonderful place to relax and explore the beautiful small medieval town of Maderuelo and surrounding countryside. The room could not be equipped any better and was extremely cosy. The food was absolutely delicious and very tasty.|Javi and Isa were the best host we could have ask for! They provided fantastic recommendations and their warmth and hospitality made us feel instantly at home! |For those who like walking this area is pure heaven. One late afternoon we decided to walk to a natural reserve nearby, one of the largest reserves of griffon vultures in Europe, the sun was setting as we completed it and it was very scenic. |Right at the hotel's door you can also explore the whole town of Maderuelo, it's quite small and very quiet, all the houses are built in stone and materials still used in the middle age. Is a true historical-artistic complex. It really feels like going back in time. Very moving to imagine the events that took place there over 500 years ago. |We will definitely return. So much...
Read moreA secret paradise in an very old, medieval, authentic village. Beautiful and quiet. It took us some hours to get used to the silence and 'the nothing'. But then your eyes open up and you see so many beautiful things. The spectacular views are infinite. I can't remember having seen so many fields, and the horizon! We enjoyed our stay in Capitulo Trece, Isabel and Javier really make the difference. They make you feel at home. A very lovely, pleasant, nice, clever and heartwarming couple. The world would be an even better place with people like them. The house is renovated and every detail fits. The style, the interior, the atmosphere, the way of living: very pure. Again: Isabel and Javier are very warm and nice people. They make you feel relaxed (the way of life), the breakfast is very healthy and every thing is home made. Coffee: perfect! A special mention for the cup cakes and pies! Isabel and Javier have their own vegetable garden. So if you have dinner at the house .... you don't want to eat anywhere else. The dishes even tastes better then at home ...... We stayed four nights and left with a bleading heart. Thank you Isabel and Javier!! Come visit the...
