Thank you Hotel Cala Murada, this was a great stay and a lovely chilled week of sun and time by the pool. I found this on loveholidays.com at a reasonably low price and was tempted by the price and the pool. ||It didn’t disappoint - it’s a 50min journey by private transfer from Palma and the hotel had everything we needed, I was with my 9yo son and the breakfast went down well with him ( fruits, pastries, cereals meats cheeses etc). There are two pools and the family one was really nice - there is also an adult only one we couldn’t go to but looked great if you don’t have kids with you. ||The staff were really friendly throughout - the bar staff were superstars at their jobs and on it, very friendly and the guy and girl working each day brilliant! Lovely garden bar. Sounds of cicadas throughout the day and the occasional plane overhead leaving the island as you sip a cerveza pequena or cocktail.||I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel and I think it would suit anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of a busy packaged holiday style one. The location is off the beaten track, a little out of the way and there is a beach about a ten minute walk away but I personally wasn’t a fan of this one as there are better ones elsewhere. I would recommend having a hire car or using a taxi to get to some of the other beaches (Cala Dor beach at Cala Gran is stunning and was €25 one way but worth the trip for the day!). There are buses too but I didn’t use them and I think they are infrequent.|| Cala Domingos has two beaches and the larger one I went to had nice waves gorgeous sea but not so clean on the sand. I hear the other one is lovely - a smaller one at Cala Domingo’s I didn’t go To sadly.||There is a supermarket across the hotel at murada which is useful for water and snacks etc. a couple of restaurants but otherwise quite sleepy outside the hotel - if you’re looking for a big package experience with shops, multiple bars and the like then Alcudia and Cala dor may suit you better. If you’re looking for an escape on a budget and for me as a single parent entertaining a son who is a creature of habits then you may find a nice surprise at Cala murada as it’s geared for manana chilling and an escape from crowds. ||The bar have ice creams and did burgers and nuggets (for kids) but also meals like octopus. If you arrive late they did offer these toasted sandwiches as a small snack which my son then had every day all week. ||The comments on here about not geared for English did make me chuckle and was another reason for me coming here. I speak a little Spanish and I think it’s polite just to make the effort to try and speak the local language as it goes a long way - also to have an open mind and mix it up as I remember once I went on holiday and bumped into my nest door neighbour as the hotel was full of English only.|| This is popular with French and German - some lovely people here and I said hello to familiar faces through the week - a mix of young families single parents young groups having fun - it was a real mix. ||There are menus in English maybe that’s a recent thing but I can’t fault the staff they make the effort to help. The photos on the website sometimes look better than reality - I think the photos o saw didn’t do this place justice it was better than expected.||So in summary - lovely holiday would suit many but not all as everyone has a different expectation of a holiday. I would recommend doing your research to see what is around especially if you rely on a package company and bear in mind you can’t walk to Cala Domingos beach as close as it looks on Google maps…. but as a holiday this didn’t disappoint and I’m now at home in Worcestershire, England with rain outside missing the palm tree lined swimming pool thinking of booking...
Read moreOur vacation in the Hotel Cala Murada was perfect. In this hotel you get more than you pay for. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming (they also gave us tips on what places are worth seeing during our stay- that are not so touristy). The breakfast buffet is quite rich in variety of food, however it is the same every day, which is normal even in 5* hotels, therefore it did not seem like an issue for us. Our room was just like the pictures and was cleaned daily, plus the towels were changed every two days. Also the cleaning lady was incredibly kind.||The location of the hotel was also a big plus for us. The hotel is located in the heart of Cala Murada with restaurants and a grocery shop right next to the hotel. It is also just a short walk away from Cala Murada beach and Petit Cala Domingos (smaller and nicer beach next to the well known Cala Domingos), if you feel like it you can also reach other beaches on foot approximately in 30 minutes (and as bonus you get breathtaking views from the cliff path). The bus stop is located right next to the hotel, so there is no issue getting around the island. Cala Murada as such is quieter place which is great if you want to rest. However, there is plenty of night life and loud restaurants in nearby tourist centre of Calles de Mallorca.||Overall we had an amazing time and we do...
Read moreWe have been coming to Cala Murada for years now and will continue to come back. There is only the one hotel and it's excellent value for money. It's not too big and surrounded by a beautiful garden. There are two swimming pools. You'll always find a seat to lay down on. The staff is kind and always willing to help with any requests. Special thank you to the lady at the bar who made our daughter feel like a princess. The rooms are spacious and impeccably cleaned every day. There is a small supermarket in front of the hotel, the town has a bar and some really nice restaurants. The beach is a short walk away from the hotel and the bar/restaurant is owned by the hotel. The food and setting are excellent. There is a second beach within walking distance from the hotel, so pleny of choice. We rented a car because there is so much to see on the island but there is a bus stop right in front of the hotel that will get you to all the major places. There is also a little playground right outside the hotel grounds. The buffet for breakfast is limited but we found it aplenty. In short a little gem, perfect for a family with little children that want to enjoy...
