This is a beautiful little town. The people are friendly and the food is cheap and fantastic. The Hotel overlooks the crystal clear waters of the river which can be swum in from directly in front of rooms. There is also a track which goes up to the larger pool and gorge about 1.5 km flat walk away.||The Hotel Itself is very Quirky. All meals are included and the dining room is huge. Your table is reserved and you are told where you will be sitting. There is a set menu with about 5 choices for each course. The food is simple and fresh and there is plenty of it.The wine list is limited to a couple of choices and the bread is free along with some tapas. Its a bit like a dining room on an old fashioned cruise ship but very popular with tourists and locals.||The pool is indoors and there is a small sauna.||The rooms are small so make sure to request a balcony.|| The staff are very helpful and friendly but little english is spoken. However they will print an English menu in the dining room if you need it.||Great place for a little adventure and to relax at the same time.||Parking is available on site but is not undercover.||Advise you to drop your baggage at the front door and then go and park...its a bit of a walk with bags as the hotel is on many levels and the lift does not go as far as...
Read moreOur second time here and we will probably return in the next few months. Light, spacious room with AC and a nice bathroom with walk in shower. There are more expensive rooms with balcony and/or river view, but ours was fine. Small indoor pool which we didn't use....the river beaches just below the hotel are much more attractive. Free parking at the rear of the hotel. We took a half board deal which, at €79 per night for two in July, was excellent value for money. No hot food at buffet breakfast, but plenty of fresh choices available. Dinner (served only from 2100) was not outstanding, but perfectly good with enough options for each course. Service very efficient: fresh bread and jugs of ice water waiting on tables. The hotel's River Club bar/restaurant (reviewed separately) at the riverside has a younger feel to it and is good for lunch, post dinner drinks etc. Small reservations: when everything else is so good, not sure why the hotel provides such poor towels and just 2 cheap sachets of soap and shower gel (not replaced after first night) and no...
Read moreGuest rooms and some public areas have been updated to give more of the hotel a contemporary feel. Location excellent of course. We booked a river view room: the view was great but you have to stand to see it. A room with balcony might be worth the extra cost, but there is a nicely furnished public outdoor terrace with views of the river and hills. Spacious room, spotless and recently decorated, walk in shower. Parking used to be free, now 5 (others had obviously found free street parking). Lift now reaches the car park and River Club level. Meals are slightly cheaper when booked with the room. Restaurant has been redecorated but still lacks any atmosphere. Breakfast is good for the price, but we would have enjoyed the bacon and omelette more if they were hot, or at least warm. Shower gel and soap (no shampoo) in small plastic packets, poor coffee and "juice" at breakfast: minor things but just seemed to be...
