We were concerned with this site being a commercial one, but we were very pleasantly suprised. The receptionist was very pleasant and showed my husband to our pitch which was a double and therefore really big and close to the one of the facility blocks. The pitch was perfect with hedges to separate the pitches and bamboo over the top to give ample shade at all times of day.
The facilities are separate for men and women (ours was) and there were 4 toilets and 4 showers and some basins and on the side some dishwashing sinks and also some machines for your laundry needs. The water in the dish washing area was hot but could be hotter. Choose your shower wisely as some are better than others but I did find the water to fluctuate from hot to cold in each of the 3 I tried despite the fact that you can regulate the temperature of the shower and you have to push the button to get more water in some showers you have to do this more than others. But the facilities were clean and tidy.
There is a small dog walk tomthe rear of the campsite which you can follow for about 10 minutes or you can walk down to the beach as many did.
The campsite is a mix of tourers, bungalows and tents of various shapes, it seemed quite quiet when we were there the first week of April. The pool was partly open but we didn't use it. The restaurant was due to open the day we left. There is a supermarket which is small but has a few things, open some days from 9.30- 13.30 and you can order your fresh bread each day although we preferred to buy our bread from the supermarket in the village as it was fresher. There is a small walk to the beach a small cove, a mix of sand and stones.
Location wise it's beautiful and perfect if you are outdoor enthusiast's, there are great walks outside of the campsite in either direction and it's a nice cycling area too. We did some amazing walks from the campsite from 10-15km with some very tricky ascent and descents but with it we got some amazing views of this landscape. We walked in the spring so amongst the amazing views we also got wonderful smells of wild herbs and all the gorgeous spring flowers and the occasional smelly goat/sheep herd too. The small town Las Negras is really cute, and is a bit of a walk from the campsite but worth a visit with some nice restaurants and bars and a couple of very small supermarkets. There are beaches dotted along the coast, we only used the one closest to the campsite and it was gorgeous particularly for swimming we swam.most days we were here early April and it 18.3°c or thereabouts. We also saw people on SUPs and kayaks too in the cove. We can definitely recommend this area especially if you love...
Read moreWe’re staying on a standard pitch in our motorhome. The pitch is narrow and an awning would be a real squeeze but some park their unit across the front of their pitch and use the space behind. I think the higher rate pitches may be roomier. This is a very quiet place to be (except when others play their music for all to share 😏) and absolutely beautiful. A fellow camper bemoaned the limited choice of eateries in the easily walkable, quite quaint Las Negras at this time of year - and the site’s own restaurant is closed for the winter - but our van is our restaurant and the tranquility and picture-postcard qualities of this region are the appeal for us as is the opportunity to walk/hike in Spain’s wilder outdoors. The large sites and resorts have had their value on our maiden voyage to wintertime Spain, but this is a contrasting experience and one takes different things from each. There are some site works happening which were close and noisy this morning, but serenity quickly resumed. There are many permanent accommodations of different sizes and types, a swimming pool (closed at this time of year) with two new pools being built and an off-road track to the nearby gravelly beach. This will be a very different place to stay in the summer when the lodges, pods and safari tents are occupied. Right now, we are fortunate to be sitting in the sun-trapped rear of our pitch (lots of pitches seem quite well shaded) having a beer and following the sun’s decent down the slope of the hill to...
Read moreThe location is amazing. But below there are a few things that made my review go on a thee out of five. We stayed in an area with "houses" that had two rooms, so, eveyone around us had kids. As a result, we were waking up first thing in the morning with screaming and yelling. It would be a good ideea to separate the family area from the couple's one. We only came to realax and have some good rest, which, unfortunetly was not the case. The supermarket was super basic, that's more like a mini market, not a super. Most probably, if the food was decent, I wouldn't need it....but seems like it is crucial (see point 3) The restaurant, food was average but service was awful (won t go into details since I left a separate review for the restaurant).
Extra but not so bad:
The wifi had not been working during our entire trip and the coverage in the area is not good at all. (That was not such a bad thing in the end) 5.The houses were super close to one another and you could not stay with the window open without the neighbours seeing what you are doing. Given that it is a glamping, a little bit of privacy would have been expected.
Apart from that, the location is great and the...
