My wife and I will be celebrating our golden wedding next month (God willing) and although we have taken the odd cruise and long haul luxury hotel holidays. We have always tried to to fit in our annual camping trips. Our children and now our grandchildren also, enjoy the freedom, relaxed atmosphere and family bonding which is all part of camping life. Over 50 years of of camping at home and all over Europe has given us a pretty fair idea of what to expect and if it is not forthcoming, we move on fast. This year, as my son and family have relocated from Valencia to Pontevedra, we decided to take a look at Galicia by way of our campervan. My son made inquiries around campsites in the area for us to begin our six week break and after making a shortlist did his own assessment of those on his list. So it was we came to be at Playa America and what was to be a short stay became our home for entire six week holiday. Anyone who has read my comments in the past will observe that I am quite scathing of those who take my hard-earned cash and fail to deliver on their service.
No fear of that here, I'm delighted to report. From the "GENTLEMAN"Javier in management, to bar and restaurant staff (I'm loathe to use names in case I do a disservice by omitting someone), to lifeguards, to cleaning staff, to all the lovely residents of Calle 13 (They will know who I mean). They all played their part in making this, a most enjoyable holiday. A vote of thanks also to the very helpful ground and maintenance staff who keep the site so pristine. I have read negative comments about the wifi here and while I agree that on occasions it can be a little hit or miss, Unlike most campsites, it is only a momentary glitch and always available somewhere nearby. The fact that we were never denied Whatsapp contact with family worldwide for more than twenty minutes, I do not consider an inconvenience. In short. As I have only excellent memories of Playa America and can think of no negatives, I have no hesitation in awarding an unprecedented maximum five gongs. At 76 years, I am not sure how many lengthy driving trips I have left in me but my wife and I definitely intend to return to Playa America a.s.a.p.
Thank You "All" for a wonderful experience and for making us...

Read moreWe stayed in one of the 23 wooden so called "bungalows" on this delightful campsite. Our bungalow had 2 bedrooms - one with double bed, the other with bunks and a single bed. There was a small kitchen/dining area and shower room. We spent most of our time on the veranda as the weather even in May was warm enough to sit out late into the evenings. ||It is a 10 minute walk to the lovely unspoiled beach of Playa America, 15 minute stroll to the beachside restaurants at the fishing port of Panxon and a ten minute taxi/car ride to the picturesque Baiona. ||Highlights of our stay included a day trip to the beautiful City of Santiago de Compostela and an afternoon on the truly magical island of Cies....
