We rate accommodation as we do eating out at a restaurant. It is certainly not just about what you eat but how it is presented and the attitude of the people serving the meal This is why we rate Hotel Los Leones as an excellent establishment. Manuel and his partner are a delight and everything they have created at Los Leones has been put together with pride and a deep desire to please. We were offered the choice of 3 rooms all lovely in their own unique way. We chose a bright room with little balcony just down the road from the church bell tower! We loved the ding donging of the bell till midnight and then again when it began at 8 a.m. This added an authetic feel to the vintage room with grand old style furnishings and comforts. We were SO comfortable with a great bed and modernised bathroom. I shy away from using the word 'hotel' as this is more like a B & B - it is a home to be shared by passers-by. There are two 'salons' in which to sit and read or play games if you are a few together or just to absorb the surroundings of a bygone era. If Manuel had spoken English or we Spanish I think we would have had some wonderful dialogue together. As it is, Manuel is organised with a mobile translator so we managed to make ourselves understood. Really, he couldn't have been more accommodating. We went out in the evening in search of a bar for an apperitif not releasing that there was a bar attached to the downstairs restaurant which would have been far more pleasant four our G's & T! We dined in the restaurant that evening and chose the meu of the day - it was to die for! Pilar is not a cook - she is definitely a master chef. Taste, presentation and professionalism were all top class as was the breakfast the next morning. These people are what I call 'civilized,' offering all the niceties in life and making our stay a wonderful experience rather than a stay in a hotel room. I can't recommend Los Leones...
Read moreWe stayed here a few years ago in winter 2010 and enjoyed it so made a belated return this summer. We won't leave it so long before we return again. The host Manolo was very welcoming and helpful. ||The highlights were the room with a view over the rooftops from the top floor (second floor and no elevator as it's an old converted Palace), really nice food in the restaurant and a nice location within this delightful village. There are some nice communal areas too within the hotel. There are a range of palaces - many of them nicely restored (Los Leones being one) in this historic village which was incredibly quiet when we were there on a Tuesday evening in June. If you want more choice of restaurants and bars beyond the hotel it's better to visit on a weekend when there are more people about. ||There are some nice walks nearby. We went on Manolo's recommendation to the Ermita de Santa Isabel - its 2km up hill but the views are magnificent. A really nice place for a...
Read moreWe stayed three nights and greatly enjoyed it. It is a well-restored historic building situated on a square in beautiful Rubielos de Mora (which we much preferred to nearby Mora de Rubielos). The rooms vary in size; we got one of the large ones for the standard price, as the hotel was quiet.||||We ate dinner twice in the restaurant and the food was excellent too. The choice is a little limited, but it was a world away from the standardised Spanish food of tourist restaurants.||||The hotel owner was very friendly and helpful, and even drove us to visit his farm, just outside the village. This was good practice for our rather limited Spanish - so far as we know, he doesn't...
