Mar de Viñas Hotel rural — Hotel in San Asensio

As the name indicates this place has a wonderful vintage point over the valley . It was purpose build 10 years ago by a person involved in the Hotel business wanting to offer an offerdable yet personable and unique experience . ||The vision has been fulfilled and for a small price you can stay in very appointed modern interior where every space is dedicated for the pleasure of the visitors . Garden , high terrace , gym , TV space , open fire salon it is all there . ||Supplemented but the most friendly and caring service wether you want food , massage , information on the locality or even a free guided tour of one of the oldest vineyards around . ||If the one give a 10 plus this place does qualify for a 10 +++ .||It is not designed by Calatrava or Frank Ghery . It is not a 5 star Hotel but it offers more than what any of these can aspire to...

We stayed at Mar de Viñas twice it was so good. I'd initially picked the place as it looked ideal for a stopover on our way from Santander to Valencia. It looked beautiful and importantly was dog friendly, as we were travelling with 2. The place could not have been more ideal. The hosts were very welcoming and very kindly rustled us up a delicious vegan meal, at short notice. The views from the hotel over the vineyards are to die for. Leaving Sos del Rey behind I took the N232 through Rioja country to this little Hotel on the outskirts of the town. Had to knock loudly but had a lovely welcome. Parking beside the Hotel. Great room with fantastic views. Both staff I met were lovely and I took their recommendations. Firstly a short trip out to the ruins of a beautiful Castillo and secondly Tapas in town.
