Pensión Maite — Hotel in San Sebastián

We stayed here with an Intrepid Travel group tour. The room is clean but extremely basic: bed, towels that are nearly threadbare, soap. It is located about 10 minutes by bus from the old town, or a 25 minute walk.||Pluses: lots of electrical plugs, strong wifi, clean, probably inexpensive. (I don't know price since we were booked here by Intrepid.)||Drawbacks: very little counter space in bathroom, must ask manager for a hair dryer, no breakfast, the shower is really small and no place to put shampoo, window looks out to next door apartments and offices, cold marble floors, distant from laundry and points of interest. ||Conclusion: if your needs are simple, this hotel is fine. If you need a few more comforts ( a hair dryer, a 2nd mirror in the room, nicer towels, more sound proofing, coffee) this place is...

From the outside you can see that the place is dingy. Once inside and up the first flight of stairs you can see that there was an attempt to improve the facade but the basics have not been met. The towels are old and strangely colored, possibly to hide the fact that they are dirty. The sheets are also colored and worn and the blankets look dirty. The shower was good and the bathroom seemed clean. There is no aircon and when you leave the windows open it is too loud to sleep. This was the downside of my north of Spain tour and by choice I would never stay here.||||Ps the service was also poor. Somos una pareja de Tenerife hemos estado diez dias del 14 de Mayo al 23, nuestra habitación era la 205, la pensión está muy bien, la limpieza de la habitación un diez, y el cambio de toallas todos los días es de agradecer, no en todos los sitios que hemos estado te hacen este sevicio de cambiar la toallas todos los días. Para ir a la parte vieja tienes el autobus, la parada está frente a la misma puerta de la pensión, si quieres ir caminando es un paseo de unos 20 minutos, hay muchos bares y restaurantes muy cerca de la pensión, el Estadio de la Real Sociedad el Reale Arena está a 150 metros, también tienen a esta distancia la Estación de tren de Anoeta. Si vas a San Sebastián te recomiendo la Pensión Maite en el barrio de Amara.
