Plaza Pombo B&B — Hotel in Santander

We chose to stay here recently for one night as it was very central and close to the ferry terminal. The entrance lobby had atmosphere- low lights and antique furniture and the lady who welcomed us was pleasant and accommodating. Our room was basic with a shared bathroom. We stayed on a Sunday evening and our main complaint was the extraordinary amount of noise that prevented us sleeping. Sounds of wild partying, and then in the early hours of the morning the rubbish collectors came along and there was the sound of smashing glass as they progressed along the street. ||The beds were comfortable, but our room had no blinds on the window so with the noise and the light we did not get much rest. We had no time to have breakfast which looked very generous with cereal, yoghurt, toast etc. We may have been unlucky as some of those things are beyond the control of the hotel, and it may be quite quiet...

The hotel is on the third floor in an old building in a city centre. Situated by a plaza, right by a church. Amazing rooms - clean and spacious. Except the hair dryer that had exploded on use and the electricity went off! The hand got died black after the malfunction. The electricity was restored in 30mins by the cleaning lady (the receptionist is not on duty in the mornings, the breakfast & cleaning is done by the cleaning lady). The hairdrier was replaced to a smaller, older, cheaper than before (you would get this in a dollar store for 3-4 euros) so we hesitated to use it at all. My wife and I stayed at Plaza Pombo for two nights during a recent visit to Santander. The B&B is about a 10 minute walk from the bus/railway station and is situated in a beautiful square. We were allocated a nice room that looked out onto the square, it was compact but had all the facilities required including tea/coffee. Breakfast was adequate to start you off for the day and was a bit of a bonus as less places seem to offer it included in the price. ||The Plaza Pombo was good value for money and I would have no hesitation in staying...
