I have never visited Spain before but Santiargo de Compostela is lovely.|The hotel I chose was a little too far out of the town though it had a reputable resturant opposite and across the road.|It's fine if you have a car but not if relying on public transport. Saturday buses every 2 hrs on Sunday the one bus company that Tourist Information stated would run - Monbus did not turn up!. Taxis all the time.|The room was comfortable and airy on the first floor. Could see a nice little court yard with tables and chairs at the back but still didn't find out how to get to it. The male proprietor was a little brusque and not that helpful. I would recommend having your phone translator at hand unless. My Spanish is non existant ( I will have to learn as daughter now living there) |There are no tea and coffee facilities in the room nor any small fridge which would have been nice! |Breakfast was Soanish/European, plentiful and quite tasty.|I had only booked for myself to stsy but my daughter stayed in the double rm over the weekend with me and the hotel were very accommodating.|The only thing that was disconcerting was if I wanted a walk late at night or before 8am , this is not possible as glass doors covered with metal...
Read moreStayed at the O Desvio for 4 nights at the end of August. The rooms were modern, spacious and absolutely spotless. The hotel is located on a quiet road within easy reach of Santiago in one direction and the beautiful coast at Noia in the other direction. Parking is available directly outside the hotel or alternatively in the underground car park - both are free. If you don't want to take the car into Santiago there is a bus stop directly opposite the hotel. Free WiFi is a real bonus. As previous reviewers have commented, the restaurant opposite the hotel is a must. The food is amazing (very typically Galician) - the t-bone was the best I have ever tasted and an absolute bargain - we dined with some friends and the meal , including a bottle of wine, beer and soft drinks came to under €50 for five of us. We have family in the area and will most definitely use this hotel again when...
Read moreThe title says it all. The owner of the hotel has works across the alley at the restaurant for 45 years and purchased the hotel within the last 5. He brings extraordinary energy to his property which is clean and very deficient. We stayed 4 nights and used the hotel as a perfect base camp all over the Galicia region. The morning breakfast is simple and fine. The rooms are clean and spacious, wifi, nice bathrooms, and all at a very reasonable price. It is not frilly but we didn't come to Santiago to sit all day in a hotel.the restaurant he owns acros the alley road is exceptional. Dinner starts at 9pm. The veal chop left me full for literally 24 hours. Awesome...
