Let me start off by saying that I love Club La Santa and have been several times but based on our recent trip, better management, training and investment is needed in certain areas to get it back to being an unbeatable proposition.||Starting with the positives, CLS is unmatched for the range of sports facilities and classes. That's why we go! The green team are fantastic and do an incredible job. There is a huge variety of sports and classes to take part in, catering to everyone.||However, a few elements were seriously disappointing on our recent trip:||1) The standard of the cleaning was seriously poor - our kitchen worktops and bathroom were not cleaned the whole time we were there. We called reception halfway through to ask for our worktops to be cleaned only to be told the cleaners do not do the kitchens - we are aware we need to clean our own dishes (which we did) but would expect at least a wipe down of surface tops and bathrooms for basic hygiene reasons which was not done in the full week we were there. (The on-site supermarket had also run out of surface cleaning spray so we were unable to properly clean them ourselves!) When I pay for a hotel, I expect the room to be cleaned properly. I also had to request for the sheets in our babies cot to be changed after they were left, despite taking them off and leaving them on the side||2) We had a very negative experience at La Piscina restaurant. My wife ordered a chicken salad, after eating a few bits of chicken she then spotted that the chicken was COMPLETELY raw on the inside - not even close to being properly cooked. The fact that the chef sent out chicken in that state is a serious health and safety concern. My wife was obviously worried that she would get food poisoning. On informing the staff, they were very dismissive and rather than being apologetic, they seemed frustrated and they took the salad away and brought my wife a new one. Understandably, after eating raw chicken, my wife was a little put off at this point and barely touched the new salad. On paying the bill, at the very least I would expect the restaurant to have apologised and not charged for the salad. Instead, when I suggested I wasn't happy to pay for the salad, we got an argumentative member of staff who just kept repeating 'but we gave you a new one' as if that made it ok that my wife was served and ate potentially dangerous uncooked chicken. No apology - investment clearly needed here both in customer service and in food safety and hygiene.||3) Perhaps it's time to invest in some decent pillows and clean sheets. You get one tiny, lumpy old pillow per guest that seems like they are the same ones from when the place opened in the 80s. Mine also had stains on the pillow cases. With all the investment, they make in the sports infrastructure, perhaps it's time to invest in sprucing up the rooms and bed linen a bit too! We heard other people joking about how the stretch and relax class is so busy because the pillows are so bad.||4) Although the resort is supposed to be smoke-free, our room was positioned by the recovery circle where groups kept congregating in the evening causing cigarette smoke to waft into our room - not ideal with a new baby. Reception said they would send someone to sort it but it carried on that same evening and throughout the week. More regular checks from security might help.||Overall, the incredible sports facilities will keep us coming back but it feels like a few areas have slipped over the years and we hope the management will take note and look to improve their...
Read moreOh oh oh club la santa what was going on this year? It was our fourth time but the first time I was dissapointed in so many things!
We were a group of 4 in a 2 bedroom appartment. No complains, however the drainage system of the shower was clogged, flooding the entire bathroom if you took a shower longer than 3 minutes. We went to the reception to point this out, however nobody has came to fix this.
Also the food this year in restaurant Atletico was very very dissapointing and at some points really concerning. I had almost fully raw chicken at 2 different times! Like the chicken was completely raw on the inside, which could lead to very severe food poisoning. I immediatly pointed this out to the manager and he was also not happy about this. One time is an accident but 2 times is a pattern that does not should occur at all! Overall food experience was low. Big trays of yoghurt at breakfast that was still frozen at the bottom, pancakes that were completely dried up on the edges. Bread that seemed to be almost a week old, very tough. There really needs to be an improvement for this because this kind of food is far below the standard that club la santa wants to provide.
Also not something that management can do about, but what is also concerning to me is the enourmous amount of big groups of Danish and British teenagers / young adults. They are loud, rude (like cutting in line at the buffet and not respecting reservation rules), and the karaoke night was completely ruined by hammered british kids that started their own competition called who can destroy the most beer glasses in 5 minutes. It is a shame that people can get away with this. In the afternoon, the pool was a garbage field of left behind beer bottles, chips bags, and stuff like that. I just hope that in the future more attention is given to disrespectfull behaviour.
Now about the facilities I can only say that they are the best on the Island! The green team tries there best to make every class and competition fun and succesfull! Swimming pools, all courts and the water sport complex provide everything you need to make the best out of your sport time!
We will be coming back next year but I hope that my experience will be like the times...
Read moreI do love this club! It was the third time we came this year. It is very unique with everything you would dream of for an active holiday, and even more so if you are into triathlon! The location is truly amazing and the staff is very friendly. I do recommend booking a suite if you want a chance at sleeping well, they are less noisy (but still noisy) and with air cond.
There are activities available every day and for every fitness level, though I was focused on bike rides, water sports and the olympic pools. The lagoon is fantastic and the Watersport centre is well stoked (although the equipment is getting old and damaged).
I really appreciated the new water stations this year. We used to have to buy a lot of bottled water and it did feel like a huge waste, now you can refill your bottles as many times as you want at the water stations instead.
A couple things to note and improve:
PLEASE add do not disturb signs! Right now there is no way to lock the doors from the inside and the cleaning crew starts as early as 8am... Asking reception to let them know not to come before a certain time is rarely respected. We've had the cleaning ladies walking in on us still sleeping a couple times (and I don't blame them, they have no way to know). This is a very basic item that every hotel should have. Until this is addressed I recommend you come with your own sign, or maybe barricade the front door with the couch...
There is no insulation in any of the rooms, and even if you are on the top floor you will be woken up by the footsteps of people under you, or just moving the chairs around as they have no pads under them. Adding pads for all the chairs, long chairs and tables would reduce the noise greatly. Especially as the cleaning ladies move furniture around to clean the floors.
The supermarket is a bit hit and miss for quality, we ended up with rotten vegetables on several occasions and it is expensive for what it is. If you can, book a city bike at the bike centre and ride to La Santa (or drive if you rent a car) for shopping, it will be better quality and a...
