Atlantico restaurant — Restaurant in Tinajo

We booked full board here as part of our 12 day stay in la Santa Club. Unfortunately, the food here does not match the standard of the club.

Where the staff is nice and friendly, they don't seem to be trained well and miss many kitchen basics. Food, cutlery or napkins on the floor stay there for a while and waiters step over it and don't bother to pick it up. Sometimes I was eating my third plate and was not asked yet if id like something to drink (you need to pay for other than water, tea, coffee, so it should be in their own interest). Standing behind the counter, chatting and picking nose is a no go for anyone working in a restaurant.

Plates, cups and bowls are of cheap material, often partly broken and look dirty because of the many scratches. Actually they oftentimes are dirty with dried sauce remains on the plates and coffee stains in the cups. Plates are wet so make sure to dry them before your fries get soaked. Sometimes I put away 2-4 cups before I found a clean one that did not cut my lips, only to notice after breakfast that no one had bothered to remove the dirty ones from the side.

If you like coffee you will have a hard time here. From the several coffee machines, only a single one is using real, actual coffee beans if, and only if, you select espresso or ristretto. All other choices and machines provide you a brown nescafe liquid that is anything but coffee. Don't bother to try an espresso after lunch or dinner because the machines only work in the morning. To my surprise, lots of guests did not care about the quality of the coffee (too few Italians here) so that issue may actually be driven by the low customer needs.

Pancakes for breakfast? Good idea but make sure to remove the first two layers of dry, wavy cardboard to get to the soft ones (that is right after the restaurant opens at 7:30). Message for the kitchen: don't prepare two trays of pancakes an hour in advance and let them sit under the lamp, hoping that they will turn out ok. They won't.

Our kids liked the food, pasta, pizza, meatballs and fries, but if you expect healthy, protein rich sportsman food, this is not your place. The quality of the meat is average at most, vegetable selection is small if you don't count in cheese covered coli flower, oil soaked aubergines or this sort of thing. The salad buffet is ok (no onions though) considering the fact that we are on the canary islands and this stuff is hard to get here. Still, I'd rather prefer fewer but local ingredients and less canned food.

Regarding dessert, there is fresh melon and fruit every day, and lots of cheap cakes and pastry. Sometimes, the cake is still frozen at the bottom. Again kids liked it, parents did not find much.

The view on the outside terrace is nice, inside is more of a cantina atmosphere, turning into a construction site during prime time with sound levels that you can hardly have a conversation.

To summarize: the food is of average to low quality, not healthy and the service is poor. We would not ever go...

Extremely little choices for gluten intolerant people. Staff does not know which of the dishes are gluten free, especially in the evening. Even though I spoke to the club la Santa travel agent before booking, because I was skeptical, I still booked it because he told me that I'll have many things to choose from. Unfortunately, this was not true and for me to take half pension was a waste of money. In the morning it is ok. Ajay, the atmosphere is really annoying, like a school cantina, very loud. The staff is also very loud when removing used dishes and seemingly in a bad mood. For such a sports oriented club, the food should be more modern...

Tasty food and loads of choice. Granted it is a buffet - not a fine dining restaurant, but the food is nice. There are two stations where they cook from scratch in front of you.
