Hotel Colón Tui — Hotel in Tui

This was the nights stay before we started the Camino. The hotel is situated well for the Camino and had all the facilities we needed. The room was roomy and had everything we needed, including extra pillows. We had dinner included, a set menu. The starters were OK and tasty, however the choice for menu was ODD, it was rabbit casserole, or cuttlefish in its own ink! Whilst these are ok in this region it was very odd for a tourist hotel. This was the main let down for us. Also dinner was nit until 9pm and as we wanted to start the walk early was quite late for us. Breakfast did not start until 8pm, it was a Sunday, but we wanted to be off before then. The hotel offered a "Cafe Express" from 6pm which we went for, however nothing was ready, when it was brought out the coffee machne did not work for about 10 mins and the only food offered was a small cakes. Whilst it was better than nothing a few more offerings could have been provided and it should have been ready...

We stayed the night before we started our walk and arrived and left in pouring rain. The hotel is well situated in the town, modern, light and airy. The staff on the front desk were helpful. The room and shower room were clean, reasonable size for two friends with cases and rucksacks and included toiletries and hairdryer. The beds were comfortable and the view fine. We had lunch at the restaurant next door which appeared to be attached to the hotel. Dinner started late and we wanted to start our walk early. The food was good but huge portions, very quiet at lunchtime so no atmosphere and a bit clinical. The Hotel itself has acceptable facilities, but hospitality is at its lowest, from the attitude of the unwelcoming and unenthusiastic receptionists to the cathode ray tube television and the lack of in-room amenities (like a corkscrew). They took our passports at check-in and failed to return them at check-out. We called and they didn't offer any way to send them to our next location (despite it being their fault), we had to take a taxi and go back to collect them. Also, we left our luggage at the reception for a city tour after check-out and they left it there in the hall, at the mercy of anyone passing by for 4 hours, which is totally unacceptable.
