I can not believe how rude this lady was today. I was looking at the menu outside while she was on the phone and there was a couple standing at the counter. I decided to order a crepe so I walked inside but she was busy so I thought I would use the washroom first. As I was walking toward the washroom she called out to me and said no making hand gestures to leave the Restuarant. I have never been so humiliated before in my life. She could have said customers only or something… but to yell at me so openly while the Restuarant was full was ridiculous. I am a pilgrim on the way to Santiago. I’m sure having the backpack on my back was the reason for her attitude, but it was still uncalled for. I have been walking for 6 days now and I have never been treated that way in Portugal. Everyone was welcoming and allowed me to use their facilities and I always bought something before I left. She needs to be taught humanity and customer service. Pilgrims bring a lot of money into your country, I am staying in hotels/bnb and eating at small cafes throughout the small communities I visit trying to support local. They lost me as a customer. Avoid at all cost!!!!!!
Response… I was not walking to the dirty tables and I was waiting in line for about 2-3mins before deciding to go to the bathroom while waiting to place an order. I did look at you when I walked in but you were side on and looked busy so I didn’t want to interrupt you. That’s why I was looking back and pointed to the bathroom when you said no, spoke in Spanish and pointed out the door. Not sure how you could think I was going to a table when I pointed to the door with WC on it and was about 4 feet from it when I finally made eye contact with you. I am Canadian and nothing but respectful, always talk to the staff before sitting at a table and I always wait my turn but this was not any of those situations. My review stands. Sorry we disagree on the situation but my perspective of the situation as a customer was I was not welcome. When there is a language barrier, hand gestures and facial expressions is all we have to...
