I cant say anything about the comfort or the hotel experience because I never got a chance to stay here, however I can speak about the customer service. If I were to sum it up in two words its unsympathetic and heartless. The staff and management do not care about the customer or their circumstances and will say anything to not give a refund.
My fiancé and I had not traveled internationally in over 5 years and this would have been our first trip together. We were denied boarding at the airport because my fiancé’s passport did not meet Switzerland’s 3 month validity rule for passport expiration. Her passport would expire in September and we were traveling June 27 - July 5th. We were not aware of this rule as we haven’t really done much international travel, although I admit we could have done more research. So you can imagine how devastated and upset we were to find this out at the airport, all packed and ready for our trip. We had to turn back and there was no way for us to get an expedited passport in less than a day due to all the wait times brought about by COVID.
We booked this hotel at a non-refundable rate, however I don’t think it matters because even if we had booked a refundable rate we would have missed the cutoff time to request a refund as we would be staying here the day after our flight. We explained the circumstances to the hotel staff and management and pleaded for an exemption to get a refund, however we were shut down and refused a refund after multiple attempts. The hotel staff kept deflecting and insisting that I must contact the travel agency I booked with which was Priceline. I had already reached out to Priceline multiple times and they would not approve a refund unless the hotel approved a refund. Priceline suggested I could try and reason with the hotel which is why I contacted them directly. However, there was no reasoning with the hotel staff. We had back and forth communication over email and they didn’t consider me their customer, they considered Priceline the customer and did not want do deal with me. I even asked if a partial refund was possible but still got denied. This just shows that they value a measly $900 over any circumstance the customer might be experiencing. I would stay clear of this hotel and don’t count on any refundable rates to help either because if the timeframe for a refund passed, they will not...
Read moreThe rooms were very clean, tidy and had a nice view. The safe was free to use and didn't require a deposit or use charge like we have had from other hotels. The free WiFi was quick too. The swimming pond was a good touch too. The receptionist spoke good English which made checking in/out quick and easy for us. There was plenty of parking. Close to the motorways which was convenient.
We decide to do a road trip from Portsmouth (uk) I had started driving at 6am that morning and only stopped for the euro tunnel and fuel, apart from that it was just solid driving, we arrived at the hotel by 7pm and as to be expected I was exhausted ! We checked in, unpacked and took our daughters down to play in the pool. After, we all went to bed and as I dropped off I got disturbed by what seemed to be kids stamping on the floor above our room, this went on until about 1am. We did specifically choose this hotel because of the soundproof rooms. The drive to interlaken was hard work then next day due to lack of sleep. We went for breakfast at 7am on the first morning, the cooked items were very cold, we ate the scrambled eggs and that evening I had stomach cramps and my daughter threw up twice. I reported the cold breakfast to a male waiter who assured me it would not be the same the next day, so.. the next morning we went down for breakfast at 6:30 hoping it would be hotter but it seems like the cooked breakfast items were not being kept warm when out on display ! My daughter would not touch the cooked food and only ate a croissant which was a disappointment. I again opted for the cooked items which were cold. I spoke to a young lady about it and said I raised the issue the previous day and she literally shrugged her shoulders and walked away to not return. The surrounding location didn't look...
Read moreI've stayed at Novotel Lausanne Bussigny multiple times over the last 30 years, usually with my wife, or family and friends as we pass through Switzerland on our travels. It's always been a dependable, clean hotel with genuinely friendly staff—a rare consistency that I've appreciated.||One of the highlights for me has always been the open, serene views of the Swiss Alps from the garden, terrace, and dining halls. Sadly, that’s now a thing of the past. A new development has completely blocked that view, and with it, much of the charm that made this spot so special.||What’s more, the hotel has become incredibly busy—mostly due to the numerous Tesla Superchargers now installed. While I support EV infrastructure, it’s clear the hotel’s parking lot wasn’t designed for this kind of traffic. Parking is now a headache, and it's incredibly frustrating to see petrol cars occupying EV charge spots with zero enforcement in place. Nothing irritates more than that kind of inconsiderate behavior going unchecked.||On top of that, the hotel now hosts commercial events that are far too large for the space. These gatherings take over the entire atmosphere, making it feel less like a relaxing stopover and more like you’ve wandered into a conference center by accident.||Still, the staff remain friendly and the rooms are clean—but it’s clear that Novotel Lausanne Bussigny is prioritizing business over balance now. A real shame for those of us who used to come here for a quiet,...
