We have been patrons of this hotel’s Gastronomy section for so many years. Both in winter, visiting the beautiful fine dining restaurant for truffle and every summer in their beer Garten for the wonderful scenery and summer cuisine, plus their selection of delicious ice cream, a favorite of my daughter. We have always been greeted well, from the parking attendant to the specialized way in which the service attendants cared for us and our meals. Recently however we have been met with a new parking attendant who was not only rude to us, but today he assured us that his rudeness and approach came directly from his boss, the hotel’s four month old manager. I didn’t believe him and asked to speak to his manager directly. I explained to the manager, that we were old patrons of the hotel, tried to show him pictures of the more than ten years of dedicated attendance to the hotel, none of which he assured me he was interested to see. I then politely asked him if the order to treat guests this way by the park attendant came from him and he confirmed to me that it did. He went further into details as to his reasons why, but I could not listen to his plight as I know, from experience that customer service wins over both new and old patrons in any establishment. I took his business card with intent to write his superiors but realized that’s this approach wouldn’t be as impactful. I hope the “new manager” will take this review in urgency, maybe analyze his methods with better care, as such situations when mishandled could considerably tarnish the amazing image and reputation of this beautiful hotel.
Continued in reply to Mr Moritz; unfortunately I cannot agree with you Mr Moritz. My daughter and I didn’t ask to be parked for free. We supported the Beer Garten, we simply took our purchase to the adjoining part of the lake. Our second time doing this, which your attendant who was supposed to be “busy” told us he watched do. Your attendant was not kind, he was unreasonably rude, each time we visited this week. Yesterday, however he mentioned that he was merited as his directive came from you. As I said before, customer service is key in any industry and the hotel before your arrival and his (your new parking attendant) had an impeccable record of same. The hotel boasted in all areas, from parking, to gastronomy, to even your indoor bar before it’s closure; a good feeling of warmth was active. I am sorry you feel the need to defend your parking attendant’s poor behavior. Nonetheless, we will try again and see what comes up since you’ve also extended...
Read moreWe came to Zurich for our March holiday and once again chose to stay at Romantik Seehotel Sonne. We visit Zurich quite often, and this hotel has become our favorite place to stay. It has a unique charm that keeps drawing us back.
The moment you step inside, it feels like stepping back in time—in the best way possible. Wooden beams, antique furniture, and paintings on the walls give the hotel so much character. It’s nothing like modern, sterile hotels; instead, it has warmth, history, and a soul. It’s the kind of place where you want to slow down, sip coffee by the window, and just take it all in.
The location is a dream. The hotel sits right on Lake Zurich, and the views are absolutely stunning. In the morning, there’s a soft mist over the water, during the day, the sun makes the waves sparkle, and at night, the city lights reflect beautifully on the lake. We walked along the lakeside every day—it’s incredibly peaceful and even more magical in the spring when the trees start blooming.
Our room was spacious and cozy, with huge windows and, of course, a breathtaking lake view. The bed was super comfortable, the linens were soft, and everything was perfectly quiet—ideal for a truly relaxing stay.
Breakfasts here are just amazing—fresh croissants, great coffee, a wide selection of Swiss cheeses, and fresh fruit. And dinner at the restaurant? Absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious, especially the traditional Swiss dishes, and the wine list was impressive.
And the staff—so welcoming and attentive. From check-in to check-out, they made sure we were comfortable, gave great recommendations, and handled everything with a smile.
This hotel is exactly the kind of place you want to come back to—cozy, full of history, perfectly located, and with exceptional service. Already looking forward to our...
