Hôtel Jean-Jacques Rousseau — Hotel in La Neuveville

Okay... I kinda liked this hotel but in my mind it needs to address a few minor things and this would be an awesome hotel. ||The place looks good with a killer location right on the lake... but on arrival the reception desk was unmanned with no sign of anyone... which gave a poor impression. When the staff appeared, they were helpful and friendly - so scored points there. The room (203) had lake views and was directly opposite the lift... so handy as I had a lot of luggage. ||||The decor was modern and the bathroom was nice. The shower was absolutely incredible - I nicknamed it the nipple cutter as it really did sting on full power. Just watch out for your sensitive bits.. ||||What really let the room down was the connected twin bed(s)... they were not great... and the pillows and accompanying beanbag thingies (I don't know what else to call them...) were useless. They really lacked support. .. ||||Both myself and a colleague were unable to connect to the wifi - although this may have been a one off issue. ||||I may have missed it... but... there didn't appear to be a room service menu which is a very minor thing, but was one of those... oh, hmmmmm moments. ||||Another hmmm moment was that the reception desk is unmanned from 11pm till 7am. ..so if you need to check out early or order a taxi you'll need to sort this out the previous evening. I did this and again the staff were...

We went there for my mother's birthday, and I was told that it was a quite fancy restaurant. We come there having booked a table, and we are seated in a loud crowded area even though there was another quiter area just there. My ill grandfather was with us, so we ask when we arrived if they could speed everything up because he had to return under care. We wait for about 10 minutes - with little kids also present - and the waitress arrives with some amuses-bouches for us...without asking our allergies nor if we were vegan or anything.

Anyway, we ordered 1 meal for each and we were 8. No entries, just a meal, due to time restrictions from my grandfather's health condition.

After waiting at least 20 minutes, the plates arrived, with no cutlery change (I had fish and they didn't change my meat fork and knife)

In other all, the place and food is nice, however the service is to...

I'm not sure whether I should give it 4 or 3 stars. My experience was worthy of 4, but my friend's probably only 2. The rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped. The restaurant is great. The quality of the food is very high! Due to a mistake by the staff concerning the availability of rooms, my friend's belongings were moved from one room to another without being notified before coming back to the hotel. We were with a group of 9 and his luggage was moved to another person's room from the group. The staff a simple sorry and a shoulder shrug were enough, not showing any will for any type of compensation, even though they could have expected some kind of discontent from our part. That was quite a shame as it is a really good hotel....
