La Colombière — Hotel in Le Grand-Saconnex

I enjoyed four nights in the Annex. The room was fine and the wifi worked well. It was comfortable with adequate storage space. The bathroom was small but adequate. The heating was good. Barely heard neighbouring guests.||||Breakfast was "quirky" but pleasant. No fruit juices but fruit salad and other goodies (cinnamon toast, apple flan etc.). Not much jam but very nice croissants. Excellent cheese but meat sparse.||||The reason for the poor review is that I pre-paid for breakfast on the last day but the restaurant was closed and the place in darkness without explanation. I have emailed to obtain an explanation but no response in 48h. Poor service was mentioned in earlier reviews but nothing prepared me for not delivering what was contracted. This is a higglety-pigglety old farm house conversion, build around a well-priced restaurant - great cheap pizza, and a very affordable menu du jour which you can eat outside the garden. It's also one of the few hotels from which you can walk to the airport (20 minutes) so a great escape for an early morning flight if you have handluggage only. Beds are old and creaky. Service is dreadful in the restaurant. Hotel welcome was fine but no one (not anyone) to check out to. Good for the airport but there are better options. The restaurant experience is one I would avoid even though the food was ok. Two big issues are 1) it takes so long to arrive that you can't remember what you ordered 2) the staff speak neither French or English but Italian. That is a challenge.
