We spend one night in this hotel. We hired a suite room, which was a bit bigger than a normal room. The room’s bed and sofa were comfortable but I would have appreciated a mini fridge, which is something a suite (and a normal hotel room for that matter) should have. The room was cleaned but not tidy enough. The fitted carpeting was clearly dusty. After one night in the room my partner and I sneezed and felt allergic the next day. Neither of us is allergic to anything so I believe that sneezing and itching eyes were caused by the dust in the room.||We checked in late after a long day and hence decided to eat in the hotel’s bistro. This was a bad decision as I saw the staff carrying the pizzas we ordered in a plastic bag to the kitchen and then heard them warming the pizzas up. My margherita pizza was very dry and mainly consisted of bread and cheese. Don’t eat in the bistro! It is just not worth the money! I have never been in a hotel restaurant that offers pizza that is not freshly prepared in the hotel restaurant.||Furthermore, I was surprised by the fact that the hotel is on an industrial area by the highway although it advertises the rooms to have mountain views. The room indeed had a mountain view. However, it certainly lacked a mountain feeling as we were unfortunately able to hear the traffic and see a street when the windows were closed.||The only clearly positive part of our stay was the breakfast, which has a large selection of breads, yoghurts, mueslis, freshly-made juices and coffee.||If I was traveling in this area, I would just hire a hotel room in Chur, which is 15 minutes from Maienfeld by train and has many better hotels that are worth...
Read moreLet me start with the positive.. the service staff are exceptionally friendly, the hotel has a convenient location close to the highway for a stopover on a long journey. The breakfast is standard for a Swiss hotel , breads , cheese , muesli, cold cuts, eggs, cake, coffee and so on., there is a huge parking with lots of Tesla chargers and a 50 KW DC CCS charger.. great for electric car owners. Now the downside .. we got room 119 and I honestly feel this must be one of the worst rooms in the hotel. The walls between the rooms are paper thin and I could hear the extremely loud snores of the person in the next room. The snores were so clear that it was as if the person was in my own bed. It was so disturbing that I had to go to the reception at night 2am to ask for another room which was unfortunately not available.. I had a sleepless night and to top it all the cleaning team started vacuuming the other rooms in the morning maybe around 8 and the sound of the vacuum was also very clear and disturbing. The room being in the ground floor next to the parking lot, I could also hear all sorts of cars driving away.. bottom line I feel the sound insulation in the rooms is extremely poor.. after informing the reception staff .. they were very kind and sympathetic but of course they cannot change the hotel infrastructure.. my advice if u want to stay here only do it if u are getting a room on the higher floor facing...
Read moreDon't be put off by its "touristy" name or the location (allegedly in an "industrial" area on the outskirts of Maienberg) - this hotel is everything you could possibly wish for as a base for a few days' exploration of this beautiful region of Switzerland. Only minutes by car from both the spa resort of Bad Ragaz and the idyllic wine-producing villages of the "Bündner Herrschaft", the hotel is modern, spotlessly clean and quiet, the rooms comfortable with beautiful mountain views, and it offers a good breakfast and a limited but excellent range of evening "Bistro" meals on-site - including one of the best pizzas I've had outside Italy. The staff, too, are both friendly and helpful. I happened to secure a very favourable "best price" deal via their website, but even at their normal tariff I'll definitely be back. (I have, incidentally, lived and travelled in Switzerland for the past 50 years, and so have a pretty good idea of what you can expect for quality and value-for-money in this very...
