Where do I begin? The location is amazing. I didn't know the view could get better than I experienced coming in via the train, but it gets way better. The hotel is quaint, quiet, luxurious, and not overcrowded. We didn't have to rush anywhere to get a great spot to sit by the water.
The room is lovely - highly recommend going for a balcony (especially nice on cool nights to open the window/doors). Rooms were cleaned daily - we didn't expect this since in the US hotels have abstained from daily cleaning even after returning to mostly normal activities post COVID.
Each morning I indulged in a delicious breakfast. Lots of great choices.
They offer a short lunch/dinner menu for when you need a bite to eat and don't feel like climbing up the hill to a restaurant or bus stop.
The staff (there were two primary people and additional staff that were more behind the scenes) was wonderful. They are a big reason why I hope to come back and stay in the same place for a longer duration. Every need was tended to, quickly and kindly.
Helpful hints: To get up to the bus stop, climb the stairs behind the building and take the path to the left and follow it to the arch under the bridge. Keep straight to the main road. Plenty of little spots to get up to the primary road.
If you have a lot, large, or heavy luggage, consider taking a taxi from the train station to the hotel (I imagine most people are arriving by train at Interlaken Ost). Our trip cost us...
Read moreThis hotel exceeded my expectations. The location is so peaceful and truly an oasis. The views of the lake are gorgeous and hotel guests get private access to the lake as well. Some of the rooms have AC which is a plus but also not necessary because of the cool breezy climate (even in July). The staff are warm and welcoming. The hotel goes above and beyond providing free bus tickets that take you into Interlaken and discounts for the ferry (that stops right in front of the hotel) and the gondola in Interlaken. I loved taking the bus into Interlaken, it was extremely easy and only took 10 minutes from the Ringgenberg Post bus stop. The walk from the hotel to the bus stop is a bit of an uphill battle but only takes 5 to 10 minutes. Once you reach the bus stop you’ll see a tourism office across the street that has tons of information on restaurants, hiking and more. There the staff can help you purchase tickets for gondolas (Grindelwald etc.) and more. This made taking the bus and planning for the day all the better. Overall, Ringgenberg is peaceful, quiet and beautiful. I booked with the hotel directly and if you decide to book I’d recommend doing the same, rather than booking with a...
Read moreI'm writing this as I look up at the ceiling from my bed and there are more fruit flys than I can count. I have also killed one centipede, one spider, one horse fly, and maybe 4 fruit flys in the last 5 minutes before I looked up at the ceiling and gave up. So gross. Also I had them change the sheets once I got in the room because sheets that were currently on had a few small stains that looked like blood to me. I can't go to sleep without ranting a little hence the review! I stay at budget hotels in the states all the time (I'm from mn and often snowmobile from one cheapo hotel to the next during winter snowmobile trips) so I'm good with a basic hotel, but this one is just gross. On the plus side, very nice view, food was good, and our server very nice. Also found it kind of funny they have coffee makers in room, but no coffee or tea in the room. Anyway, would not recommend this place. Also needs a lot of cosmetic updates and has the old "mothballs in the...
