Nice hotel, nice small town, perfectly located, good views, leisurely hour walk to Lausanne, and quick access to the passenger boats and a ten minute walk to the train station... but there were issues. We stayed three nights and a situation arose on each of the days. On their own, they are no big deal but when considered together they point to a hotel that is not as effectively run or as caring as it might be. Day 1. We arrived to find no towels or soap etc in the bathroom. A trip to the desk rectified most of this. Day 2. On return from a day out (3:30) we found the toilette running and inoperable (presumably it had been running since the cleaning). It appears Hotel Le Rivage does not have a plumber on call and we were asked to move. This we did. It took us about half an hour to accomplish this. Apologies for the inconvenience were minimal. They could have offered us something to make it all good...perhaps a free glass of wine or a percentage off dinner..... none of that happened. Day 3, returned at 4:30. The room had not been cleaned, the bed not made etc. Again we were inconvenienced and had to wait in the lobby for half an hour while this was rectified. Once more, no act of good will on their part to recognize the inconvenience. This is not a front desk issue, this is a management/owner issue.||The rooms themselves were nicely appointed (had ones with views). But the pattern of problems and especially the overt lack of concern for their paying guests was, for...

I recently stayed here and while the location and amenities were decent, my overall experience was ruined by the extremely impolite behavior of the hotel's director. This individual, a Chinese manager, was shockingly unprofessional, consistently refusing even the simplest guest requests with a dismissive attitude.
Many fellow guests, including myself, encountered unnecessary resistance when asking for basic services—things like an extra towel, a late checkout, or even simple assistance at the front desk. Instead of providing hospitality, the director acted as if guests were an inconvenience. This kind of management has clearly tarnished the hotel's reputation, as I overheard multiple complaints from other visitors facing similar treatment.
It’s a shame because the staff seemed to try their best, but with leadership like this, it’s no surprise that customer satisfaction is so low. Until there is a major change in management, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a...
Read moreThis place is brilliant. The staff here were so kind and accommodating. In a world of tourist traps, these are really genuine. I'd run away with these people. We had problems with a previous booking and these people were so kind and helpful. Our waiter was the sweetest person you could meet. So kind. 100%. Update after 2 nights stay, this place exceeded our expectations. The inclusive breakfast was excellent and the evening meals were great. Again, everyone was so friendly and helpful and very tolerant of our poor French. The boat ride from Lausanne to St. Gingolph was also very relaxing....
