Last week, I had the pleasure of staying at the newly opened Hotel Hilai in Taipei, strategically located near the Nangang Exhibition Center. This convenience was pivotal, as our visit was centered around an event at the exhibition center. From the outset, Hotel Hilai promised an extraordinary stay, and it delivered on many fronts, positioning itself as a contender for one of the best hotels I’ve ever experienced.
Unparalleled Amenities and Services
Hotel Hilai shines brightly in the realm of amenities and services. The hotel’s attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction are evident throughout the property. From the moment of arrival, the professionalism and warmth of the staff set a welcoming tone for what was to be a remarkable stay.
A Breakfast Buffet Beyond Compare
The breakfast buffet at Hotel Hilai is nothing short of spectacular. Imagine rolls and trays of exquisite food, offering an array of choices so vast, it’s nearly impossible to sample everything—even over a five-day stay. This breakfast experience easily ranks as the best I’ve ever encountered, setting a new standard for what morning indulgence can look like.
Sophistication and Convenience in Accommodations
The rooms at Hotel Hilai echo the hotel’s overall excellence. Spacious, impeccably clean, and modern, each room is equipped with automated features that add a layer of convenience and luxury to the stay. The ability to control various room elements, such as blinds, with the simple touch of a switch, enhances the comfort and ease of the accommodations.
A Disappointment in Wellness Offerings
However, my experience was not without its shortcomings. The most notable disappointment stemmed from the closure of the sauna facilities. The hotel’s modern sauna and hot spring amenities were significant draws for my booking, touted for their excellence across promotional materials—even in the in-room TV advertisements upon our arrival. The unexpected closure of these facilities, without prior notice, marred an otherwise impeccable stay. This lack of communication and the unavailability of a highly anticipated feature prevented Hotel Hilai from achieving a perfect rating in my book.
Closing Thoughts
Hotel Hilai in Taipei stands out for its exceptional service, remarkable breakfast buffet, and state-of-the-art accommodations. It offers a glimpse into the future of luxury and convenience in hospitality. However, the hotel’s management should address the communication gaps, particularly regarding the availability of advertised amenities like the sauna and hot spring. Should these minor issues be rectified, Hotel Hilai has the potential not only to meet but to exceed the expectations of its guests, offering a truly five-star experience. Despite the hiccup, I would recommend Hotel Hilai to anyone seeking luxury and convenience in Taipei, with the caveat of verifying the availability of all...

Our stay at the Grand Hilai Taipei was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we stepped into the luxurious lobby, we were enveloped in a world of opulence and attentive service. The attention to detail in the interior design was fantastic; every corner of this hotel exuded sophistication with its elegant finishes and stylish décor.
The customer service at Grand Hilai was impeccable. The staff were always attentive and caring, making us feel special throughout our stay. A special shoutout to Lulu from floor 6, who gave us a grand tour of the exhibition areas – her knowledge and enthusiasm truly enhanced our experience.
The hotel boasts a brand new gym and sauna, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. What's even more impressive is the innovative use of AI to control lighting, air conditioning, and other personalized services. This modern touch added a layer of convenience and comfort that is often hard to find.
Our visit to Taipei was for a business trip to record YouTube videos and documentaries for our concert, and the facilities at Grand Hilai were perfect. Special thanks to Celina, Tina, and Angel from floor 25, who hosted us in the executive lounge with world-class hospitality, catering to all our personal and professional requirements.
The morning buffet at Grand Hilai is one of the best we've experienced globally. The variety and quality of the food were simply outstanding. Extra credit goes to Jerry from the spa, as well as Momo and Andy, for their incredible service – you truly made our stay unforgettable.
In all my years of travel and luxury hotel experiences around the world, the Grand Hilai Taipei stands out as one of the best. The zen ambience and sheer luxury of this place are unmatched. Thank you, Grand Hilai, for an amazing stay filled with love and...
Read moreI stayed at the Grand Hilai for a conference across the street at the Nangang Convention center. The staff and service was nothing less than impeccable. First off, we had to ship several boxes of product samples and marketing materials for our exhibit. The hotel openly received these, stored them until we arrived and even paid the import tax on our behalf. We also had a meeting room in the hotel one of the days and while setting up, we discovered one of our pull up banners got stuck. The staff helped to troubleshoot and even took apart the banner to fix it. They then helped move 14+ heavy boxes to my room to store. At the end of the conference, all my colleagues disperse and I was left with having to ship the material home. Stanley helped me print the shipping labels, take out ask the boxes from my room, call FedEx, and ensure everything got picked up correctly. I can’t thank him enough.
Huge thanks to Lulu, Patty, Stanley, Andy, and Sarah for their support and hospitality this week.
As for the rooms, they are huge and spacious. There are lots of very nice details that are not seen in western hotels, like the office supplies in the desk and toiletries. I very much enjoyed my stay at the Grand Hilai. The breakfast buffet was also one of the best ones I’ve experienced.
My only critiques are that there hotel is far away from the city center although it is under a 5 minute walk to the Nangang Exhibition Center MRT stop on the blue and brown line. There’s not too much walkable from the hotel other than the convention center and CTBC financial park that has a mall inside. Also, the lunch and dinner buffet are impossible to get into even as a hotel guest. You need a reservation in advance. That was a bit frustrating but encouraged me to explore in Taipei.
Overall, fantastic hotel and...
