We stayed here two nights as part of a group tour, so I cannot comment on the price of this accommodation. What I can say, is that this place is in serious need of some TLC. It is sad, because you can tell it was once pretty nice. Looking at past reviews, as far back as 2014, it seems like it has been in this state for over a decade. I would actually give this accommodation 3.5 stars as there are many pluses, but Google won't allow me to give half stars. Here are my observations: - pools need a proper clean and repair - it has its own ecosystem growing in there. It is a shame because at a distance, they look like lovely pools (one large and one kiddy pool) - our shower could only provide a hot shower for one person... We took turns each night so that we each got a hot shower on one night. Others on our tour complained of having to choose between either a really hot or a really cold shower. They picked cold, saying the hot water would burn their skin. - there are wires sticking out of the walls in the room - dated decor and mismatched furniture in rooms - worn, grayed towels - wifi only in the main reception area However, there are positives: - grounds around the pools are well maintained and cute - the beds are comfortable (our whole tour agreed) - the staff are friendly - it is very quiet - the lodge is down an alley that cuts through a very poor (but friendly) neighbourhood, and so it is away from the main road. Even during the day, it was peaceful.

We stayed 2 nights at the campsite. You can camp on a grass field which feels nice. The staff was very friendly and gave some nice advice on where to go on our 'extra' day here. The facilities were so so, but that is to be expected when camping is only $10 per person. We had dinner 1 night, which was a nice buffet and fairly priced at $15 pp. Cold drinks are available for good pricing as well. The second night we went to town for dinner, which I'd also recommended to walk around a bit. People are friendly and it feels safe. Yesterday we watched a show of a musical band, including some acrobatics and dancing. Very nice surprise 😀 Would definitely come back, especially for the friendly staff and service.

The camping site was level and grassed, and the ablutions clean. However, the food was okay and very overpriced. We paid more than double for fish and chips, which we usually pay at similar establishments in East Africa. A glass of very average red wine was also well overpriced. In fact, even by Tanzanian standards, it is extraordinarily expensive. Will have to look out for alternative dining options in Karatu.

I have stay for a few days for Church Congress 2022 at this lodge. Stepping through the lobby, i was immediately struck by the beautiful and friendly reception area. Light, airy and very spacious...very welcoming atmosphere. The staff throughout the lodge were very professional, friendly and extremely helpful. They always greeting and smiling to us. The breakfasts were amazing. The location of the lodge is great. The room was very spacious and well equipped with all essentials and fantastic view. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to the tourists who want to go to Karatu. I Will be back to this place soon..!!! ||Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer ||😂😍||Flamingo safari lodge. ||...
