My son and I had such a lovely time staying at this hotel tucked away along the mighty river rufiji. We went in early April when it was low season hence we had the entire hotel to ourselves. The staff at the establishment are super friendly and made sure we were comfortable and had the best time. From the manager Juma- who made sure our stay was comfortable, the chef Said- who cooked meals we liked and were absolutely delicious, and the waitress Anna- who was friendly and gave us a great service. The safari guide Shija was awesome too!. He was so dedicated to making sure we saw all the animals in the park and made or safari so memorable. We saw the lions, hippos, elephants, zebras, wilderbeasts, etc etc. They all made our stay very comfortable and peaceful. The hotel grounds are simply breathtaking. I particularly loved the view from our little cabin that overlooked the river. Meals are eaten in an open restaurant overlooking the River and the hotel had a little tree house you can tuck yourself in and enjoy a glass of wine at sunset. The hotel does however, require some renovations and a face-lift . It looks like the hotel flourished in its hay day but perhaps lost its lustre over time. The pool isn't functioning either. However, management informed us that they are undergoing renovations during this rainy season so perhaps it'll be better once they reopen in June. I was only dissapointed that I was denied a refund for a village walk tour I didn't take and had cancelled it the day before because of the rain. Overall its a nice quiet place to stay in the middle of nature. If you want some peace and quiet in nature, then this lodge is perfect. Try and get a room overlooking the river.

This place is so amazing!! The people make the trip! The location is right off the river and the whole area is covered by trees with monkeys in them! The rooms are so spacious and will always look amazing thanks to Ramadhan! The food is cooked to your liking! There wasn’t a menu they literally asked us “what do you want” and they got it. We just told them make us feel like we were in Tanzania so Chef Kinye and assistant chef Nassoro cooked us local food and it was amazing. It was always brought to us in a timely manner with a smile by Zakia! We saw 3 elephants run right below our room one night and it was the most amazing thing ever! Don’t worry though Suko the security guard will always make sure you feel safe by walking you anywhere you want at any time. Moses the lodge manager was always checking in on anything we needed and gave the best support we could ask for. Last but by far not least, Shija, our tour guide! He made our stay so great on the safari by taking us to find any animal we wanted. We saw giraffes, elephants, and.... (even lions!!!!) and took us into his local village to show us everything! The water Safari was great we got so close to the hippos and crocodiles and saw an amazing sunset. We are so grateful to have met all of them and shared our vacation with them!!!

BEST PLACE TO STAY FOR SAFARI AROUND THE BUSH! Nickson (the tour guide) is very very knowledgeable about the surrounding when he takes you out to the wild side. His energy is unmatched! He loves to help you explore more if you want and he gave us a full tour of the village nearby when he saw us trying to walk around and see more. Ana, Dani, and Rama work really really hard to make sure your stay at the lodge is comfortable and they are all extremely polite and very very hardworking. The food is excellent!! Many many compliments to the chef. I loved that at night when we were almost sleep, the groundsman, knocked on our door to let us know that pumbas come around the area so we should put our shoes and slippers inside. It really let us know that they are watching out for our safety and well being even when we don’t notice them. Loved it. THEY SHOULD ALL GET A PAY RAISE!! Will be hard so say goodbye. Until next time, Asante sana!

We spent three nights at Selous Kinga Lodge as part of a four-day safari, and it was truly an unforgettable experience—not only because of the stunning beauty of Nyerere National Park and the safari itself, but also thanks to the warm and caring service provided by the lodge.

We travelled from Dar es Salaam by car and returned by plane. After experiencing both options, we definitely recommend flying rather than driving in either direction. Flying is far more comfortable and saves a lot of time and energy, even if it comes at a higher cost.

My girlfriend and I felt incredibly comfortable at Selous Kinga Lodge. The lodge is nestled in nature, surrounded by monkeys (who don’t disturb you at all) and other wildlife. If you’re lucky, you may even see elephants passing nearby. Just imagine relaxing at your lodge and suddenly spotting these magnificent animals—it’s simply magical.

The food was perfect. My girlfriend is vegan, and she was really happy with the delicious and thoughtful plant-based options offered by the lodge.

A special thank you goes to our guides, Nick and Maliki, who accompanied us throughout all the safaris. They were knowledgeable, kind, and truly passionate about the park and its wildlife. The entire safari was conducted safely and respectfully, without disturbing the animals—we especially appreciated their choice not to get too close to them.

For us, it’s a 10 out of 10! We highly recommend Selous Kinga Lodge and will definitely...
